Sabaton fan for about 20 years now here... always wonderful to see people discover this HUGE rabbithole and decide to dig deeper... there are TONS of awesome songs I could suggest for you to react to, but I'll stick with some of my few personal favourites, that are often overlooked.. these would be "Heart of Iron", "Price of a Mile", "Wehrmacht" "Cliffs of Gallipoli" and from the newest album "The Valley of Death" . Greetings from Germany and thank you for another great reaction!

My wife's grandfather was 14 when he went to the war, and he probably survived through luck: he was wounded and ended up being treated in the same field hospital as his own father, who lost it when he saw his son. He wrote to his wife who wrote to the War Office with evidence of the lad's age, and they eventually pulled him out. He never spoke of his experiences either.

Sweden werent even in the war, but my grandad did his military duty during it. Know he were somewhere on the border to norway but I dont know what happened there. He had books about ww2 so he could read about it, but I remember my mom once saying that we shouldnt ask him about it cause he were scared from. And that were like 55-60 years after it ended

This cover is amazing and always makes me tear up. I discovered Sabaton through Dan Vasc's cover of "The Last Stand." Now I'm a huge fan of Sabaton. Thanks for sharing your reaction.

Such a good song. They really do their homework. So many great songs. Noticed someone in the comments mentioned Christmas Truce. Some tissues are definitely needed. Also play the video out completely to listen to the guest singer at the end. Great reaction 🤘🏻🤘🏻

A few side notes here. This is a cover of a Motörhead song, the bus at the beginning is a nod to the live album No sleep til Hammersmith with Motörhead. The two guys standing in the door opening at 5:24 are Mikkey Dee and Phil Campbell, the drummer and the guitarist of Motörhead. The picture at 5:30 is of Lemmy Kilmister, the bassist and singer of Motörhead and they guy holding it is Eddie Rocha who was the tour manager for Motörhead and the current one for Sabaton.

I did some researching and found that all the names of the soldiers, knights and Spartans in the end were real people. Many of the soldiers were Medal of Honor, Silver Star, Victoria Cross or Croix de Guerre recipients. The soldier pulling himself out of the mud, at first I thought he was a member of "The Smoking Snakes" (Força Expedicionária Brasileira, FEB, nicknamed Cobras Fumantes), but doing some more research with the patch on his shoulder as well as his helmet, that's Sgt Henry Johnson of the 15th New York National Guard Regiment, aka "The Harlem Hellfighters". Medal of Honor recipient and recipient of French Croix de Guerre avec Palme, France's highest award for valor. The Medal of Honor was awarded to him in 2015. Sgt. Henry Johnson is "one of the five bravest American soldiers in the war." Theodore Roosevelt Jr. in his book "Rank and File: True Stories of the Great War" The Asian soldier with the cocked-hat, that's a Nepalese Gurka named Havildar Gurung (per the credits) who earn the Victoria Cross in the Burma campaign off WWII. Sgt Awal Nur, who did a secret mission over the Himalayas. Lt. Audie Murphy, Sgt. Alvin York are both medal of honor recipients from WWI (York) and WWII (Murphy). I also notice a soldier with the Croix Lorraine on what looks like a French flag arm band, meaning he was a member of the 'Forces françaises libres' forces in WWII. Doing some reading I found out that a large number of French colonial troops from territories such as Chad had joined with the 'Forces françaises libres'. I suspect that soldier is Lt Comba, but I can't find anything on him. As I've been working my way through the names listed in the credits and found another one: Private George Stringer, Manchester, Awarded the Victoria Cross at the Battle of Es Sinn in Mesopotamia. Capt. Dobson, 1st Canadian Infantry Battalion, Killed on 9 July 1916 in Flanders.

Two items I like to provide as historical footnotes for this video. 1. Author JRR Tolkien was an infantry officer who survived the Battle of the Somme. It's been said, but not confirmed, that he used much of what he saw there in the writing of the Battle of Helm's Deep in "Lord Of The Rings". 2. The First World War was even more senseless than people realize, and how it started was absolutely inane. In the words of my high-school history teacher, it started "because someone nobody had ever heard of killed someone nobody liked over a piece of land nobody wanted." And just to top that off, the assassination attempt that started the war was bungled from the outset.

yeah, you have just described the core of their message, war is insane and many sacrifice for what they hope will be a better world, so Sabaton celebrate the sacrifice and more or less say "war is insane waste"

G'day Jenn....my family are from the black country of the West Midlands. My aunt lives 15 minutes from the museum where it was partially filmed. My great uncle fought at the Somme aged 16, he then went onto Paschendaele (The price of the mile/ angels calling). He died 8 days before the end of WW1 - Never forgotten. Lest We Forget. There are 3 episodes on 1916 - the history of motorhead, the child soldiers, and the year of 1916.

War is a condition that Man will never recover from. Always pray for peace, but always prepare for war. I do not mourn for the loss of those Men, But I thank God Men like those existed.

If you haven't already listened to the original Motorhead version, please do. It is very stripped back and sombre compared to this. This is a great cover, but I'd rate the original higher. I always listen to it on Remembrance Day/Sunday.

The sad thing about the 1st World War the tech out paced the tactics. And the poor bastards didn't even have to worry about being shot and killed by the enemy. The living conditions could have killed them. I couldn't imagine being so bored with my life at home and being 16 to decide to join the war for an adventure. Or whole town losing all of their men. History shouldn't be sugar coated and watered down because you're thin skinned. We should learn from both the good and the bad. But we fail to learn so we are destine to repeat till we do or every sole is eliminated.

I happen to be part of the current armed forces and it’s true how it says about it’s not the soldiers that are to blame but the government’s of their respective countries that are responsible yet it’s always those of us in the fighting that have to pay the price of a conflict many of those involved in the battles of ww1 & ww2 didn’t even want to fight but in the end had no other option than to fight for their freedom and survival yet it is often the brave soldiers that get the blame for it

I recommend making a reaction to one of the best vocalists in the world. Meet Diana Ankudinova! Diana has the title - Queen of Goosebumps. Challenge yourself, can you resist the charm of her voice? Comments under the video: "What perfection, it's out of this world, not even to explain how extraordinary her voice is." "It is definitely the most beautiful voice in the world❤" 1) super unique voice (dramatic contralto with rich polyphonic overtones); 2) the most complex vocal techniques, a bewitching voice; 3) Diana sings in 6 languages : English, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Arabic and any musical genre; 4) incredible charisma, artistry and living of any song; 5) a vocal range of 4 octaves; 6) a large army of fans around the world; 7) an independent artist, without producers and labels, only with the support of fans and reactors like you; 8) more than 20 thousand reactions (all collected in my playlists). The incredible fate of a girl found with a broken collarbone at a bus stop and ended up in an orphanage.
