Sabaton does not want anything to do with politics. They just tell the stories of the times. It's sad that that is seen as nationalist. Thanks for picking up on that!

The clothes shown in the video are what he was wearing when he died and they are now preserved in the old royal armory in Stockholm which is now a museum. And a few hundred meters away is the Riddarholm Church where he is buried.

People tend to be amazed by high notes, but the barytone for me is just as amazing. I just love Joakims gritty voice.

Carolus Rex was the last European King to die on the battlefield leading from the front. Despite his shortcomings his conviction and stoicism were absolutely legendary.

You dont know the words to the Swedish version. All the swedish versions are far better written than the English versions on the album. It is panfully clear when tou find "En Livstid i Krig" The english version is like a compleetly different song, and it barly scratch the surface while the swedish version cuts veterans deep.

Fun fact! Carolus was the last king in history to stay on the frontlines with his men.

The song is great in English. But it is even better in Swedish. The lyrics is better and the words sound more "powerful" in Swedish. Still a great song in both languages.

One thing you got to know about Carolus is that he never ever started a war. He defended our beloved Sweden but "we" did get more and more ground because everyone keept attacking us

This movie was a joint operation between russian and swedish film makers, obv the russians wanted in coz theyd win in the end. Also the thing that made the swedish Carouleans so victorious against sometimes 1vs5 oppocition was their tactics. usually battalians walked up to 80 meters and started firing. The Swedish just went forward to 50? meters and shot forst wolley and then kneeled and shot second and after that they continued forward to 25 meters and shot the last wolley. After that they just rushed forward into melee and this was not normal in these days. After many Russian losses they learned and adapted witch u can see in this video they have these small "forts" breaking up the swedish attack making it useless, if they were same numbers it wouldnt matter but the russians have always had more men than the swedes.

So just thought I'd recommend that you, as a historian, read up on the Caroleans. They did that. That's why the enemy feared them. They did not fear death. They stood tall and kept moving forward. Stepping over their dead comrades.

I'm swedish and I remember when the Carolus Rex album came out and I had to actually debate people to get it into their heads that no, Sabaton isn't a extreme right wing band. Before that when the Art of War album came out it was the "no, Sabaton aren't gloryfying war" debate. Some people are just very quick to jump to conclusions, especially after being politically correct became a thing. People here have really taken that to another level unfortunately.

The movie that you asked is titled "The Soveriegn's Servant" a Russian movie, about Peter the Great, the scene in the vid is about Battle of Poltava.
@bondeboy27153 жыл бұрын
The movie shown in the video is called ”the sovereign servant” from 2007 and is a russian movie about the battle of Poltava, the first battle Charles XII truly lost and is said to be the begining of the end for the Swedish empire.

This was in 2020, and if I'm not mistaken, this was their last show before covid hit Sweden.

The songs on the album are actually in chronological order, so reacting to them in the order they're on the disc is the right thing to do. It starts with the rise of Gustavus Adolphus and the 30-years0-war, and it ends with the death of Charles XII and the ruin of his empire, a hundred years later.

Caroleans prayer next. I can’t listen to this song without listening to that one.
