It's just such an emotional song, the english title is "A lifetime in war", however the text in the swedish and english versions are different, the swedish version is far more emotional than the english one. The swedish version reflect the individual soldier and his thoughts in the war! This is the translated swedish text into english (you'll find it completely different to the english version. I look around and I see my home fade away My time at home now feels far too short Just a youth, barely a man when duty called me If i get to see my home again, that I do not know Among-st friends from my village, I went out to fight And the world burned For war it can Destroy a man I give my life for my homeland But who will mourn me? So see me as A husband, a friend Father and son who never comes home But who will miss me? Went to fight for Sweden, was baptized in blood Out there where death awaits, not heroism In fields where kinsmen fall no song is heard Challenging our destiny one more time Far from home Baptized and die in battle And the world burned For war it can Destroy a man I give my life for my homeland But who will mourn me? So see me as A husband, a friend Father and son who never comes home But who will miss me? And when my time runs out Who cares then? They fight on Does a soldier get a worthy end? To fall asleep Pass away And never wake up For war it can Destroy a man I give my life for my homeland But who will mourn me? So see me as A husband, a friend Father and son who never comes home But who will miss me?

Why does everybody blindly repeat that swedish version is more emotional? Swedish version is about individual suffering but English version is about suffering of half of Europe. English version is much stronger. "Religion and greed caused millions to bleed". Just listen to it...

the meaning of the lyric disappears a bit in the translation but gives a picture of what it is about.. Lyrics, google translate: I look around and see my home disappear Jag ser mig om och ser mitt hem försvinna bort My time at home now feels far too short Min tid där hemma känns nu alldeles för kort Only youth, hardly a man when duty called me Blott ungdom, knappt en man då plikten kallade mig If I get to see my home again, I do not know Om jag får se mitt hem igen det vet jag ej Among relatives from my village, I went out to battle Bland fränder från min by så drog jag ut i strid And the world burned Och världen brann For the war, it can För kriget, det kan Destroy a man Förgöra en man I give my life for my homeland Jag ger mitt liv för mitt fosterland But who misses me? Men vem saknar mig? So see me as it Så se mig som den A husband, a friend En make, en vän Father and son never coming home Fader och son som aldrig kommer hem But who mourns me? Men vem sörjer mig? Went out in battle for Sweden, was baptized in blood Gick ut i strid för Sverige, blev döpt i blod Out there, death awaits, not heroism Där ute väntar döden, inte hjältemod In fields where relatives fall, no song is heard I fält där fränder faller, hörs ingen sång Challenging our destinies, once again Utmanar våra öden, ännu en gång Far from home (baptized and die in battle) Långt hemifrån (döpas och dö i strid) And the world burned Och världen brann For the war, it can För kriget, det kan Destroy a man Förgöra en man I give my life for my homeland Jag ger mitt liv för mitt fosterland But who misses me? Men vem saknar mig? So see me as it Så se mig som den A husband, a friend En make, en vän Father and son never coming home Fader och son som aldrig kommer hem But who mourns me? Men vem sörjer mig? And when my time has run out Och när min tid har runnit ut Who cares then? Vem bryr sig då? They are struggling De kämpar på Does a soldier get a dignified end? Får en soldat ett värdig slut? Get to sleep Få somna in Disappear Försvinna bort And never wake up Och aldrig vakna For the war, it can För kriget, det kan Destroy a man Förgöra en man I give my life for my homeland Jag ger mitt liv för mitt fosterland But who misses me? Men vem saknar mig? So see me as it Så se mig som den A husband, a friend En make, en vän Father and son never coming home Fader och son som aldrig kommer hem But who mourns me? Men vem sörjer mig? For war it can? Can you acutually translate it like that into English, or isn't that wrong? 'För kriget det kan', 'Because the war it can', wouldn't that be more correct? 'The war', Kriget, instead of just 'war', krig, and 'Because' instead of for. Don't know If English language uses 'for' as the Swedish uses 'för'? Well, I'm no expert at all, just curious, and now I realize I have to much sparetime by overthinking this translation to much! Anyway, have a Nice Day!

I give my life for my fatherland. But who'd miss me? So see me as he, a husband, a friend, father and son, that never shall return home again. But who'd mourn me? Because the war, it can. Destroy a man. I give my life for my fatherland. But who'd miss me? So see me as he, a husband, a friend, father and son, that never shall return home again. But who'd mourn me?

Here's another fun fact; the decision to translate all the songs of Carolus Rex into Swedish was a spur of the moment thing decided AFTER the release date was set, so suddenly they had to come up with Swedish lyrics and record TWO CDs in the time it normally takes to do one. Apparently, the reason why Lifetime at war has such dirrerent lyrics is because neither Pär (the short guy on the bass) or Joakim could figure it out (language is a live snake, someone said...) so they made the English version about the effect of war and the Swedish one from a soldier's perspective. As such, it will forever be the Sabaton song that most resonate with the Swedish crowd. Also, on a completely different note and on Joakim's dream of becoming a metal machine; kzbin.info/www/bejne/p5_dpqWhiKx1edU Have fun with that one

Nice! This song is not the fastest paced song but the lyrics are what sells it to me! It’s about the 30 year war: ”So see me as one, a husband a friend, father and son, that never comes home, but who will mourn?”. Long live the king next?

"I look around and see my home disappear My time at home now feels far too short Only youth, hardly a man when duty called me If I get to see my home again, I do not know Among relatives from my village, I went out to battle And the world burned For the war it can Destroy a man I give my life for my homeland But who misses me? So see me as it A husband, a friend Father and son never coming home But who mourns me? Went out in battle for Sweden, was baptized in blood Out there, death awaits, not heroism In fields where relatives fall, no song is heard Challenging our destinies, once again Far from home Be baptized and die in battle And the world burned For the war it can Destroy a man I give my life for my homeland But who misses me? So see me as it A husband, a friend Father and son never coming home But who mourns me? "Guitar solo" And when my time has run out Who cares then? They are struggling Does a soldier get a dignified end? Get to sleep Disappear And never wake up For the war it can Destroy a man I give my life for my homeland But who misses me? So see me as it A husband, a friend Father and son never coming home But who mourns me?"

Great reaction guys! If you’d be interested in a pronunciation guide, you’d get close with this: livstid (livs like you would pronounce “he lives”, and a slightly prolonged “i”-sound in tid) i (pronounced close to the letter “e”) krig (hard ‘k’ and hard ‘g’ as in gun, and the same rule for the ‘i’ in the middle; close to ‘e’).

I look around and see my home fade away My time at home now feels much too short Merely a youth, hardly a man when duty called If I will see my home again, I do not know Amongst kinsmen from my village, I left to enter war And our world it burned For war it can Ruin a man I give my life for my motherland But who misses me? So see me as it A husband, a friend A father and son that never will come home But who will grieve me Went into war for Sweden, baptized in blood A place where deaths awaits, not valorousness In fields where kinsmen falls, no song is heard Challenging or destinies once again Far from home (baptized and die in war) And our world it burned For war it can Ruin a man I give my life for my motherland But who misses me? So see me as it A husband, a friend A father and son that never will come home But who will grieve me And when my time has run out Who will care? They keep fighting Will a soldier get a worthy demise? Fall asleep Escape away Never wake up For war it can Ruin a man I give my life for my motherland But who misses me? So see me as it A husband, a friend A father and son that never will come home But who will grieve me For war it can Ruin a man I give my life for my motherland But who misses me? I see that someone already translated the lyrics, they are quite different than the english version of this song, but In my opinion the swedish version is much better. This was the last concert I saw before lockdown. It was Sabaton, Amaranthe and Apocalyptica. Excellent show, and this was the highlight. Seeing it again, however I do wish concerts could start up again in the not so distant future.

It is pronounced as "N Lifstied e kreeg" also: react to "In The Name of God - Live Grasspop 2008" or "In The Name of God - lyrics" or "Ruina Imperii" or "Thundergods" "Speeder" "Jawbreaker" "Metalizer" "Thunderstorm" or "Saboteurs - Live Oslo" All Sabaton songs In The Name of God got it's Sabaton History released today, very special episode. Maybe an out of the box reaction "Geuzenlied - Dutch Partriotic song" My country fought the longest official almost non stop war ever, the 80-years war Geuzenlied: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIjLiWyIbtV6f6s Can't wait for October 3th "Leids Ontzet" :D Well as far as the 2nd wave here in Holland allows me to 7:32 goosebumps every fudging time

Last year's Sabaton show at the virtual Wacken was good. But not as awesome as the 2019 show. The first 2020 show from Wacken was in a virtual setting with virtual audience and a digital set. That set was a lot smaller than Sabaton's normal stage sizes vise. So Pär, Joakim, Tommy and Chris had a harder time running round.
