This is still my favorite Sabaton song. This is one of my favorite stories to tell about WW2. I feel like the eastern front as a whole deserves more recognition by the west. But this song showcases what women and the red army are capable of. The amount of stories I can tell from my own family fighting on the eastern front are too many to count. This song always gives me chills and makes me proud to have this in my lineage. Badass Russian female pilots, what else can I ask for? Thank you, Sabaton

To this very day I am appalled that I only learned of the Night Witches through Sabaton, and not through school or pop culture. These women should be celebrated and held up as shining examples of heroes for all nationalities. Thank you Sabaton for coming through where the world failed. 🤘🏻💚
@zebnemma2 жыл бұрын
Exactly! What I adore about Sabaton is that they do not discriminate when it comes to heroes and badasses. They will tell their story no matter what side of history they belonged to. A hero is a hero no matter which side they fought on, no propaganda can change that! Ultimately it highlights how we are all human after all, all just as fragile and scared. No matter which country you are born in or in what time there will always exist bravery in our hearts to go against the grain to do something truly remarkable, and that is truly inspiring. A hero has no flag, no nation. A hero is universal.

I love how Sabaton echoes the style and tactics of their subject in their songs, think about it, the night witches approach a target in almost perfect silence. Oh, dear child. Eight years is but a blink of the eye. It's barely even long enough to record a GunsNRoses album. Wait until the day arrives when you realise that your first metal album was obtained more than thirty years before, and that the songs on it were already nearly ten years old. It comes as quite a shock to the system when one notices. It's even *_worse_* when you remember having pretty much the exact _same_ thought a decade (TWO decades) ago. I think back to the younger, prettier Stick that I was, sucking in my cheeks to make my cheekbones stick out, wishing my hair would hurry the fcck up and *_grow,_* and thinking, "Woah! Master Of Puppets came out like, ten whole years ago! How can that be possible? Ten? Like, no way . . .

The planes they used were actually a heavy and surprising advantage. Because the wings and body were basically canvas stretched over a wooden frame, bullets didnt' have the same impact--a shot to a metal wing could knock it away or warp it, but for these it just punched a hole in the fabric. That wooden frame also meant that the only metal on the planes was the engines and the bombs, so they were almost invisible to radar. In addition, standard dogfighting doctrine was to tuck in behind your opponent and get close before you fire--and these planes were so slow that you just couldn't do that. You'd overshoot them so fast that you only had time to snap off shots.

Those wonderful women and the social and military ideals that brought such victories to fruition. It fills me with an overwhelming sense of pride and gratitude. I have always said as a joke that “Soviet history has taught me to never anger Eastern European women as they will fuck you over into the next century.” And the pilots of Night Bomber Regiment 588 is an example as some of their pilots joined up (like most Soviet women.) out of an urge for revenge against the Nazi’s hell one of their pilots explained that she had joined up after witnessing the horrors of the Luftwaffe’s Stuka’s taking out fleeing civilians and want ping to show them what it felt like. Jebus this women were bad ass

The women who fought for Russia are sighted alot by the Left for "gender equality". I'm not denying they existed or their efforts but I have to wonder how much of it was just Russia's way looking at every body it had as "meat for the grinder" Night witches apparantley had very few strategic target runs, IE not flying over enemy territory and mostly flying sabotage missions over battle grounds, which helps don't get me wrong. I'm just wondering how much of their reputation is just fluff.
@tarektechmarine82092 жыл бұрын
@@IejirKothar reasonable but I'm willing to give them the reputation because I could believe women back than were a far higher quality than the left today. Plus there was a german pilot titled witch hunter so there is definitely the fear that they put into the germans even if they were useless in the larger strategic plan.

Very nice 👍 Do you know the Normandie Niemen regiment? It's a regiment of free French pilots who fought in the USSR on Russian planes, and who meets the night witches. They were the first free Frenchmen to have crossed the German border, two of them were decorated by Stalin himself as heroes of the Soviet Union, is one of the pilots preferred to die rather than abandon his Russian mechanic trapped on his plane when they were changing airports (they were buried side by side on Russian land). They were sentenced to death by the collaborationist French government and by Hitler himself, and won many battles in the Russian skies alongside "Stalin's Falcons" This regiment still exists, it is the most titled French aviation regiment in history.
