This is the MV that hooked Sabaton for me. Being retired military I'm always moved by the loyalty and sacrifices made by the military. "All gave some, and some gave all." This song has a more "hymn-like" feel; honoring the long history of the Livgardet.

The Royal Guard is about the Swedish Royal Guard which is the oldest active military branch in Sweden today. They recently had a celebration commemorating the 500 year anniversary of its creation. They commissioned Sabaton to make a song commemorating the occasion. The Livgardt I think they're called. P.S the smile Joakim had before he's about to cancel all those undesirables

We have 2 names for them. Either Livgardet which is the military unit name. But we also say Kungliga högvakten ( royal high guard )

In the 90s I served in the Royal Guard. Alot of lonely nights guarding the Stockholm Royal Castle where you have time to think. A strange feeling knowing that guards have been here protecting the King and the Royal Castle 500 years before me.

That is accurate. It was originally commissioned by the Swedish army but they pulled out for some reason. Also, every regiment has ha "livkompani" where the nco are trained. I was at one 20 years ago. Livgardet is a ceremonial guard today but it was the elite and trusted people during most of its existence. Life guard in swedish translates to body guard by the way 🙂

​@@emilarvidsson2376 Cool to hear that you were at one of the livkompani! Just for clarification purpose I want to point out that Livgardet have multiple battalions. Livbataljonen is the mostly ceremonial part that you see in the traditional garment but Livgardet consists of more than just that battalion. And even the Livbataljonen has a duty to protect the country's leadership at time of war so they train in urban warfare as they are designated to protect Stockholm in wartime. I would expect them to not use the colorful blue uniforms at that time though 😅

I can understand your feelings, remember when i went to concerts in the 70´s I went to concerts with Thin Lizzy Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin. Sometimes it has an advantage to have an aunt who worked at Live Nations. A company who arranged tours and live performences for artists.

Greetings from Sweden. This song and video (2 videos actually) was made for the marking of the 500 year anniversary of Livgardet (Royal Guards). Unfortunately the government were not pleased about it though. Sabaton replied that this was their tribute for the celebration of the oldest military faction here in Sweden that are still active today.

En tid av Krig = A time of War I fred och i strid = in Peace and War För Sverige i tiden = For Sweden in time De gör vad som synes omöjligt, vad än framtiden spår. = They do what seems impossible, no matter what the future brings

If you want to see the band act, Christmas Truce is a must. The uniforms in this video are replicas of the uniforms used by the Swedish Army during the Great Nordic War 1700-1721. 🤘
