the relief force not only changed the outcome of the Siege of Vienna, but it was the most massive cavalry charge in recorded history. About 18,000 horsemen came down the hills clashing against the ottoman forces. The shock of such a massive charge broke almost instantly the siege and drove the ottoman army back. This battle marked the end of the ottoman expantion towards Europe, after which the Holy League forces drove the ottomans back to Turkey.

from the end of the 16th century through the 17th century, Polish hussars were among the most effective military formations in the history of cavalry

The cavalry charge during the battle of helms deep from lord of the rings is actually inspired by the siege of vienna. The relief force charged down the mountainside with the sun behind them simular to how it’s shown in the movie and more or less ran riot on the surprised ottomans who were caught completely off guard

Obviously it's one of my favorites, I'm polish 😁. But besides that it is really a fantastic song. I like your reactions, to Sabaton especially. You're like a child in Wonderland. Sabaton does it because they love history and music. Their passion shows, that's why we love'em. And they're fenomenal musicians to boot.🔥 I'm waiting for this history journey for a while now. Please do it, it's really worth the time . Have a great day 🤘🤘🎶🇵🇱

If I remember correctly, Tolkien based the Charge of the Rohirrim off the Charge of the Winged Hussars, except there was only 6000 Rohirrim, while with the Winged Hussars there was something like 20000

I'm here for anything Sabaton! Did you know that 2024 is the bands 25th anniversary? (of the members only Joakim & Pär actually hit the 25 years. Chris has 11, Hannes 10 and Tommy 7 years in the band) Also incase you didn't know (and want to see them live) this april &may Sabaton is supporting Judas Priest on their USA tour. They will eventually also headline a tour in the USA, once they have the next album released (which they are currently recording, no release dates or a name/ topic yet).

WOW... What a fantastic day. This is my favorite Sabaton song.💥🙏💥 My great grandfather had a voice similar to the lead vocalist of Sabaton. All the kids gathered around as he would tell stories of fighting Dragons and monsters in WW 1. He had a way of adding in that stirring tone when the battle would shift to victory. My great-gramdpa had lost both legs in the battles and 1 side of his face from dragon fire (mustard gas). He was a big hero in our eyes.🤘🔥🤘 Thank you Daniel👍 I agree that this should have been played in schools in history class. 🥰🥰Hugs from a Canadian Dear🇨🇦

I think this is the song that has inspired the most memes of Sabatons music. It is one of my favourites for sure and I could see that you enjoyed it too😂. I saw that someone already told you about Tolkiens description of the battle of Helms Deep, so there is no need for me to go into that. I actually saw your joint reaction with Angie( since I follow her, too). I will always be up for watching the history with you since I love Indys way of telling.

Just to let you know, my family history is from Poland. I can trace our family back over 900 years and are direct descendants from one of the Princes who's father was King Jan Sobieski the 3rd and rode with the Winged Hussars. But, after the 2nd World war were denied and stripped of this title.

As always, a great reaction:) For fun, when you just want to listen to a live Sabaton concert, check out Hellfest 2019. This is an amazing concert. First, they are filling in for the band Manowar, who refused to play due to some tiff with concert management (?), leaving Manowar fans, many of whom traveled hundreds of miles, feeling as if their band had disrespected them. So, Sabaton was a bit nervous to come out and play instead, wondering if the Manowar fans would accept them. The first song is, as usual, Ghost Division, followed by Winged Hussars with a great backdrop! Second, after another song or two, Joakim loses his voice. These two "strikes" might have caused cancellation, but as some posters noted, Sabaton is "badass" and kept going. Tommy and Chris step up to the singing. Tommy sings "Fields of Verdun." Then Chris sings "The Price of a Mile," with a chorus behind him. The two guitarists continue taking turns singing the songs. The entire concert is magic! (I especially like the version of Bismark). On days when I feel that there is too much to deal with, this concert, and any of their songs, can be very inspiring to keep on going:)
