I was born there, ghana is 1000 time peaceful than the US. The reason you are afraid is the constant negetive portrayal of Africa. There is nothing to be afraid of.

As someone from Kumasi, this was so fun to watch. A few things to note; When the taxi driver mentions 3 million, he actually means 300c. People in Ghana quote the currency figures in two ways. Before the redenomination and after. After the redenomination, 4 zeros were cancelled. So 3,000,000 = 300. People in Kumasi aren't too fluent in English. So sometimes when you speak the Twi, with your accent, they still think you're speaking English and don't respond. That's also why some of them weren't too communicative. Eg the driver The sachet water isn't free. He just bought it for you ( the driver ).

He’s also my favorite traveler on KZbin cause he learns the language and knows how to make friends with the locals (except when he tries to stir up conflict between Nigerian jollof and Ghana jollof, I was saying “no man! Don’t!”. I like the simple editing too, no need for fancyness

It’s not hard if you just try to learn the language and talk to people but there are always risks involved. Most people are good but the predators always go for people who look different or stand out. I’ve done just like him but he’s really brave doing it where he stands out so utterly and completely

My in-laws are from Ghana. My wife is Zambian. Her brother is a good man high up in military working "peace keeping" opts. However he is off now and would be a safe and good contact in many countries due to his travel and military work in several countries surrounding Zambia. If you want, reach out. I'm an American but have many in laws living in many parts of west and central Africa.

Hey Tommy if you get chance to visit Ivory Coast there’s some interesting places to see like the largest cathedral in the world in Yamoussoukro. Also a dipi crocodile farm the presidential quarter that also has crocodiles around the perimeter and a hydro dam. Not to mention night life in Abidjan. Stay safe west Africa is great to visit.

Those of you complaining about the taxi fare , that’s about $30, and I heard him saying the taxi is taking him there, wait while he tours and bring him back. If he stays there the whole day who looses.

When I went to places like Jamaica, Cuba, etc. it drove me nuts when these "tour guides" would start following me around talking about stuff and then expect money. I never asked for any help or tour guide so I'm not paying some guy to follow me around.
