Cartoonnetwork did it to an extent, not as bad as nick is one to do but i remember hearing somewhere that CN was against the show becoming focused on that main subplot that was goin on during the show and had them focus more on doing the one off episodes, that honestly is why i think ward stepped down as the head of the show. I just wish one of these networks would give the creators a chance and let them have as much control of the show as possible (within reason of course, maybe with them stepping in if the show gets too raunchy or too controversal in a way) when it came to the show themes and plots.

Nick didn't air the last season of Lok because people weren't watching it, by the end on book one watchers plumited and people were switching that off. Secondly the didn't follow the story line and word that was set in Avatar the last airbender (ALTA) from characters and korra herself to the conflict to the story and plot especially in the beginnings episodes which destroyed the avatar as a whole. Thirdly korra herself as a character sucks, she doesn't care about anyone around her and because of that treats everyone like trash, she gets every thing she wants even down to knowing 3 out of the four elements when she was 6 which is a direct contrast to ang who had to work hard to get what he wanted was nice to people he met and overall wasn't a dick. from what I know, Viacom bought out noggin and started pushing their nick jr shows that direction; but eventually they did away with noggin and combined both channels and they occasionally will use moose and zee in their nick jr channel bumpers. When I was a kid and watched noggin, it was paired with the CW, but then after I grew out of it, it was bought by Viacom/ Nickelodeon

As far as I'm concerned, Nickelodeon stopped being of interest when they canceled Danny Phantom, My Life As A Teenage Robot, Jimmy Neutron, Invader Zim, and As Told By Ginger. All of these are subjective opinions. I hear a lot of people say that Spongebob Squarepants was only good during seasons 1-3 from 1999-2004 before the original movie came out in November 2004, and the reason the series was revived was because of the success of that movie. Stephen Hillenburg had left the show and it was all downhill from there. In all honesty, I'm ok with calling season 4 the ONLY GOOD season of post 2004 Spongebob, I enjoyed some episodes from that time, like Best Day Ever or Dunces and Dragons. IMO season 5 up to present the show has been dead to me. So my point is that I enjoyed seasons 1-3 the best while season 4 is 2nd tier to me but still the last good season of the show. Now, a lot of people on this comment section are mistaken with the reason why Saberspark calls Spongebob the reason it ruined Nickelodeon. When Spongebob first premiered on Nickelodeon in 1999, it did NOT ruin Nickelodeon as soon as 1999 hit, no not at all, from 1999-2004, you still had Rugrats, Hey Arnold, CatDog, Rocket Power, Invader Zim, Jimmy Neutron, etc. running all along with Spongebob at the time. Even from 2004-2007 when season 4 of Spongebob began, you had Danny Phantom, Avatar: TLA, All Grown Up, My Life As A Teenage Robot, Catscratch, and Jimmy Neutron was still around for a few more years, so despite Spongebob's popularity, during it's early years Nickelodeon still focused on its other nicktoons. It started getting lazy around the late 2000's like 2006-2009 I'd say is when Nickelodeon started spamming Spongebob and focusing on that cartoon only instead of putting afford into its other ones, which is why Nicktoons like Back in the Barnyard, Fanboy & Chum Chum, The Mighty Bee, Mr. Meaty, Rabbits Invasion, Planet Sheen, etc. were failures. You could tell Nickelodeon was running out of ideas big time and instead it just gave Spongebob all the love.

Um I understand spongebob but why the loud house? That show sucks! The fandom is sickeningly horrible and has loads of incest, the characters are bland and stereotypical, there's too much potty humor, and I could go on. Avatar the last airbender should be brought back if you ask me. The last golden age of nickelodeon was avatar, dragon ball z kai, and invader zim. Once those shows got taken off and canceled or moved to other networks Nickelodeon fell. I hate the loud house with a burning passion! It ruined nickelodeon like you wouldn't believe. It was never a good show to begin with. I saw the trailer for the show and instantly had conflicting feelings in my mind. Part of me thought it would be an ok show but the other part of me knew it would suck. And whaddya know? The second part of me was absolutely right! The loud house turned out to be a total waste of time and was total shit! Yeah sure spongebob isn't as good as it once was but it's better than the loud house at least.

Sitcoms make money, though. Disney Channel airs millions of them while XD has the cartoons (or at least most of them). That's a problem, because not everyone had that channel. After that, Spongebob became more obnoxious and just annoying, Patrick became so stupid that it wasn't even funny anymore, and Mr. Krabs just got ridiculously greedy. There were some pretty successful shows in the early 2000s such as Drake and Josh, iCarly, Zoey 101, Jimmy Neutron, Fairy Odd, Danny Phantom, Invader Zim, Avatar, etc. that I wish you touched base on but I agree they screwed up by focusing solely on Spongebob. As I grew up in elementary school, I noticed nick would place these great shows on their two other channels; Nicktoons and Teennick. Just a thought for the start of Nickelodeon’s continuous demise. Let’s just hope that Paramount+ streaming service will make more Avatar content that we all need and want so badly.

Won't lie, Those early Spongebob eps were entertaining where he was a naive well-meaning guy. However, he got stupider and wimpier and ultimately MORE annoying to the point where you rooted FOR anyone AGAINST him (Squidward, Plankton, etc). Spongebob has the same problem that other popular shows- like the Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park- all have: they've worn out their welcome and it's time for them to go into the long goodnight of syndication and reruns, but the studios that make the shows and the channels that run them are still addicted to the numbers they bring in on viewers for even absolutely shit episodes, and they just keep beating a dead horse until there's nothing left but mush because they're afraid of what they might have to pull out to replace it. Saber said it best- Spongebob is a once-in-a-generation type of thing, and Nick will ride that wrinkled yellow body square into the ground until it's just absolutely not profitable any more, because it prevents them from having to replace it. Over the last few decades, Nick has lost all the imagination it once had- you had stuff like game shows- Wild and Crazy Kids, two versions of Double Dare, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Nick Arcade, Make the Grade, that picture one, GUTS... it was really all about imagination- and they had cartoons out the wazoo, too- Looney Tunes, Rugrats, Doug, all the Nicktoons. I think the decline really started when they started picking up stuff like Ren and Stimpy and went full bore on the two big S's- Spongebob and Stupidity. They banked more on stupid grossout humor and years of Spongebob reruns than actual quality shows. I mean, they got hold of Power Rangers- one of the absolute blockbuster kids franchises- and damn near rode it into the ground with all kinds of stupid, stupid rules on season length. If you let a season of PR tell a story, with lots of time to let things develop, it is one of the best damn things in children's television. When you shove it into a 30 or 40 episode season- split into two chunks of 20- it's going to be absolutely shit because you don't have time to develop the characters beyond a few simple things and you're more concerned with pushing toys and shit instead of making solid TV. They even fucked up Avatar- they should still be running reruns of it on Nick sometimes, but that would get in the way of all the stupid grossout humor, stupid live-action stuff, and ten hours of Spongebob a day they run. And they stuck a knife in Korra's back and shoved her into a closet to make room for more stupid shit. Korra was the easiest fucking money they passed up- before fucking up with Adventure Time.

Gen-X is entering its 50s and 60s now so I can't see them caring for much longer (most have already stopped). I can see maybe South Park continuing on for another 10 years, but that's it. The Simpsons should have stopped 20 years ago. Spongebob and Family Guy should have stopped 10-15 years ago.

Nick and CartoonNetwork are dropping in quality, and fast. By now, Nick is on its last leg, though it's a leg that's wavering. CN is following suit,but they still have a little life. I grew up in the early 2000's, so I missed the glory days of nick, but did manage to catch its last breaths and a majority of CN's time in the ring(honorable mentions to Disney XD and Disney Channel). These absolute titans falling is why I don't watch much TV anymore. If I do, its rewatching childhood shows for nostalgia, shows made by more KZbin centric giants, like roosterteeth, and Anime. The 90's and early 2000's were the time of TV, but now a replacement is on the rise. A moster that has existed for awhile, but is only now rearing its head to show its overwhelming power. A monster known only as... the streaming service.

+Jade Prince I'm with you. I remember seeing episodes of Avatar as a kid (albeit irregularly), and I honestly thought it wasn't that good. But I really started to dislike the show when they got to Ba Sing Se, everything slowed down, there was no action, and in my dumb kid mind, I got bored. The last episode I remembered watching as a kid was Crossroads of Destiny (or as I viewed it as a kid, "The one where the bald kid died") and just saying I'm done and put on SpongeBob (again, dumb kid mind). Over the years, I heard so many good things, but I never went back to watch it until the summer of 2016 (when I was 19) and it was then that I absolutely fell in love with Avatar. Stuff I hated as a kid I learned to love and appreciate now that I'm older, especially the second half of Season 2, and I saw just how mature and well written the show really was. Now, I regard Avatar as one of my all time favorite shows, and LOK is up there as well.

Henry Danger, The Thundermans, and live-action crap like that ruined Nick. I mean, it doesn't feel like itself anymore. Whenever I hear Nickelodeon, I think "Oh, that channel?" in disgust. It's just dying.

I hate when people say if you're not a 90's kid you won't understand I grew up in the early 2000s and I use to watch pretty much every show mentioned in this video because my brothers were 90's kids and we didn't have cable so I just watched all of the DVDs and VHS tapes that my brothers had and they were all 90's Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network shows.

They also cancelled a Helga show, a spin off of 'Hey! Arnold', where the Helga show would focus more on Helga's life, maybe even a character development. But Nick turned it down because they thought it was too dark for kids. 'Too dark for kids'? Children these days have access to the Internet at a very young age of around 6 years old, and there are some fucked up things in the Internet like DHMIS and Salad Fingers. Many of us have seen thos series and we turned out just fine.
