In my lifetime I have heard all the great Flamenco artists including the famous Carlos Montoya, all the members of the Romaros family and all the current popular Flamenco guitarists. Sabicas will always be my favorite. In his lifetime there was none better. The smoothness of delivery and the technical ability was and will forever be the very best. He played with magnificently trained fingers and with his heart. His music and style has been copied by all the greats today.

Sabicas is EASILY better than paco lol, I’ve seen Paco live before he died and believe me, sabicas made the guitar sound like something no one has heard before. There’s “playing the guitar” ya know toca la guitarra but Sabicas was one was the music . He had the song in him, plus the technical skill. Paco is a technician but you can’t place him with sabicas or Narciso yepes, specially if you know what theory and methods they introduced to guitarist as a whole. Learn classical guitar pedagogy first, then make assessments… if you don’t play, you can’t understand the music.
@Dino69Zaur2 ай бұрын
@@cmat45Sabicas doesn't stay near Paco. Paco was excellent in any aspect be it speed, technique, clean sound of every note, or the genius idea of composed music, he actually diversified the flamenco made it much richer, and many genres you hear today like tarantas, minera, bulerias etc are exist because of him. Yes Sabicas deserves any credit as well because he was the beginning, but it doesn't matter how was the start more important what happens at the finish. We once had a wooden wheel, now we defined it and made it a modern tire

Filmed rarely for the spanish TV. Sabicas is the Jimi Hendrix and then some of the flamenco guitar. One could argue that Paco de Lucía was better at technique, but given the opposition that Sabicas was given (operating from the Bronx, New York) he was very captivating, to say the least. He filled up a Madison Square Garden. I could listen to his Malagueña 24 hours a day.

Its an "artificial harmonic", it is done by holding your index finger directly over the fret (barely touching the string) and using your thumb to pluck the string. Artificial harmonics are used to make harmonics other than the common 5th, 7th and 12th fret harmonics. Whatever note you are holding, simply pluck the fret 6 whole steps from the point of origin. Hope this helps!
