Floor formed this band, had complete creative control, so what you're hearing is Floor's sound. Back in her ReVamp days she was a hardassed metal musician. Recently she said that she had moved on from this aggressiveness, so her sound is becoming more mellow. Nothing like age and parenthood to chill things out. Check out her After Forever music. She joined them in 1997 and there are some YT vids of AF from the early 2000's. By the time this concert took place, Floor already had 13 years of singing metal behind her.

She was young here, but she was even younger in After Forever where she started at like 19 years around 2000s She didn't do growls there (the guys in the band did) but a lot of operatics, and she was pretty amazing for her age. Check out Monolith of Doubt or My Pledge of Allegiance Pt.1

2010 was 11 years ago. :) And yes, Floor was younger of course, but not carefree. ReVamp was her band which she had created and she was in control of most aspects of it. That was taking a huge toll on her and led to her burnout soon after. But yes she was just as amazing as a performer then as she is now. It's definitely not an accident that she's the one that got the phone call when Tuomas was left without a vocalist. They had been having an eye on her for a few years.

You said it best. This was biker badass Floor. She addressed this exact topic in one of her more recent Fan Friday segments on her channel. She said this was the side of her growing up listening to bands like Panterra. Wanting to emulate that raw sound and mannerisms. The topic came up when a fan asked her if she missed it. And she said "No". This was part of her and that she has grown and changed since then as an artist and that she prefers the tonal qualities of Nightwish. So lovely to see you again Sabina. Now that you’ve experienced Floor mixing up a bunch of different styles, check out “Time” by Wintersun from the Sonic Pump Studios session. Their lead singer Jari Mäenpää (pronounced Yari Mahn-pah) also has a very versatile voice. Oh, and Wintersun now has two connections with Nightwish. Nightwish’s current drummer Kai Hahto previously drummed with Wintersun, and Wintersun’s bassist Jukka Koskinen filled in with Nightwish for the recent virtual concert.

Nice one ! I loved this song and your comments. I first saw Floor on stage when her band After Forever opened for Nightwish in Paris in 2002. Long time ago but still a great memory! Especially when they covered "The Evil That Men Do" from Iron Maiden. I think After Forever is definitely worth checking, as other commenters said! They wrote the music I think she said, around 2008, and just got around to recording it in 2017 or so.
