Blind Guardian is a permanent guest at Wacken: 1992, 1998, 2002, 2007, 2011, 2016 and Wacken World Wide 2020 online. They were also planned for the Bullhead Festival 2021, which was cancelled. So, very likely we can expect them in 2022.

Hansi used to have long hair and wear sloppy sweatshirts, but now his look is adequate for a man in his 50s. And if you want to listen to some of the symphonic side of Blind Guardian, check out some of their newer albums "At the Edge of Time", "Beyond the Red Mirror" and "Legacy of the Dark Lands". "Sacred Worlds", "Wheel of Time" and "War of the Thrones" would be a nice starter.

Not only do they keep the tempo and energy up in Valhalla, it's also the last song of the set-list! This was the outro, that's why it's so long in the end. Very diverse band, love them.

Just goes to show that German metal is not all about Rammstein. I love it when a rock or metal band go from ballad to power driven music without effort. I’m looking forward to asking Alexa to play a selection from this band, and pipe it through my sound system….I only hope the neighbours appreciate it. Another quality recommendation for the music loving subscribers to enjoy. I’ve heard of the band but never explored them…my loss. Keep them coming Sabina, and thank you.

Ah Guardian, my first love on heavy metal, never dimmed ;). Everyone who's been listening to them for some time knows pretty much every song, there's *always* the Bard's Song in any concert and everyone always know it, it was like this, say in the sorry end of nowhere in the Taunus foothills in southern Hassia where I first saw them back in 2003 (or maybe 02...I think) and on every concert of theirs I ever was... And while the "sing a long quality" has *always* been a part of, specifically German, power metal but with them it's a *whole different beast altogether* ... I'm always on the verge of annoying everyone in the train when I commute to work and any of their songs pops up in my playlist, I know them all...;). Best regards Raoul G. Kunz
@Nikioko3 жыл бұрын
As one of the early works, Valhalla is actually still Speed Metal, but the transition to Power Metal is floating in Blind Guardian's discography.
I was there that night and sang along. The BG-fanclub, "The Circle of the Bards" always made it obligatory for it's members to learn The Bard's Song by heart. :D It would be great if you could react to Nanowar of Steel "Valhalleluja", three great vocalists and a really interesting mixture of gospel, rock and metal. :D And fun. :D

Seen them several times live...in big venues and small clubs. And they ALWAYS play with the same energy. You have to love them. And yes...it is like this on every concert...they know every word.....if you were once in a crowd with Guardian playing you will never forget the feeling. Try Mirror Mirror too from them.....it will be a treat 🙂
@Nattfare3 жыл бұрын
Valhalla is from their second album, Follow the Blind from 1989. They have probably played that song so many times live now that they can probably play it that speed in their sleep. xD Their earliest albums had a stronger Thrash feel to them. Then they went over to a cleaner power metal sound, especially on Nightfall in Middle-Earth from 1998. In more recent years they have used a lot of live orchestras for their albums to give a more symphonic feel to the songs. Other songs like The Bard's Song (In the Forest) they have made are Past and Future Secret, Mordred's Song (both the acoustic and normal version), the acoustic version of Bright Eyes, Curse My Name and Skalds and Shadows.

The bardic style is great for pulling in the crowd.... Perhapse originated by and rarely bettered by Ian Anderson and Jethro Tull. Then passed on through the likes of Yes and Marillion in their early incarnation. No offence to these guys or others but the thrashing metal form tends to lack sufficient differenciation for my 🧙♂️ taste.
