Thank you Manifold for providing the name of the book being discussed. All too often we just hear "the book" or "my book".

Since you speak of priors often, maybe you should also explain Bayesian statistics. (Feeling silly commenting on a five year old video)

If I had seen this vido when It first came out, I would have responded to it straight away. I honestly believe I can proffer an Hypothesis that will give an answer to many of the problems that you are looking for. Consider, the atom not composed as it is described in the standard model, but with the whole of the area between the nucleus and the outer boudary of the atom being filled with incredibly tiny negatively charged monopole particles, ' Harveytrons ', forming a cloud, which fills every available empty space throughout the universe. This is what I propose is ' Dark Matter '. The negative force of repulsion it produces is 'Dark Energy '. It is a component of gravity, and is what is causing the expansion of the universe This is the cornerstone of a very radical hypothesis that I am working on. The standard model of the atom is fundamentally flawed, for the following reasons amongst others, a). How is it possible for a single electron as in the case of the hydrogen atom, to form an ' Electron Cloud ', that fills the whole area between the nucleus and the outer boundary of the atom, at every moment in time, when this area is over 100,000, 000 times that of the electron? b). If the electron does act as desribed in the standard model, by whizzing around the nucleus, changing trajectory many thousands of timmes a second, where does it get its energy from to initiate and maintain its momentum? c). Following on from b). this momentum and changing trajectory, would require energy to be expended, and thus dissipating heat. Therefore every atom and thus all matter would be emitting heat, which plainly it is not? d). How is it possible for the electron to have the same charge holdig capacity as the proton, which is around 2,000 times its size. It would be like a tiny watch battery having the same charge holding capacity as a very large tractor battery? I propose that the electron as we know it, is not in fact a fundamental solid particle, but a cluster of the particles I describe above. I am of the opinion that the standard model is far to complicated to be a viable model. I believe that all the exotic particles are in fact man-made particles, or should I say just pieces of atomic matter, broken away from the atom as a result of smashing pieces together. As I said, My hypothesis is very radical, and in my model there are only two particles that make up everything in the universe. One is the particle that I have described, together with a corresponding positively charged monopole particle. all of the components that make up the nucleus, are composed of these two particles, everything else consists of the ' Harveytron cloud '. I can explain more if you are interested, including gravity. Kind regards, Tony Marsh.

With respect to item 'b', ask the same question about planetary orbits in the solar system. Where does the Earth get its energy to travel in a circular orbit around the sun? Or you can ask the same question about a photon. Where does the photon get its energy to keep going all the way across the cosmos?

@@BarryKort Thank you Barry for your interesting reply. In answer to your question, in our planetary solar system, the Sun being a mass of plasma has different time periods for its rotation, between its equator and its poles. This varies from around 27 days at its equator, to around 35-37 at its poles. the cause of the rotation of the planets and moons, is a complex interactions of the gravitational forces at play in the solar system and the topography of the surfaces of the planets. As the matter making up the planets is deformed by these gravitational forces, energy is provided by the gravitational forces. The existence of the ' Dark Matter ' ' Harveytron cloud ' that I propose in my hypothesis, is, by the ' Dark Energy ' force of negative repulsion, what stops the planets being drawn to each other. The other difference between the electron as described in the standard model and the planets, is that the planets are not changing trajectory, so therefore not expending energy. I certainly do not believe the standard model's description of the electron. With regard to ' Photons ', according to the standard model, there is no way your question can be answered. However, This is another point that gives weight to my hypothesis and the existence of the ' Harveytron Cloud '. My feeling on this point is that since the ' Harveytron cloud ' is composed of negatively charged monopole particles, which are repelling each other in every direction, there is a zone between them where the photon can travel completely free of friction, a bit like a linear electric motor. In this way, the photon can travel to infinity, at the speed of light, intiated by the force that was exerted on the atom to release the photon in the first place. This force is a constant, and is the threshold pressure that has to be reached before a photons is released from the atom to the next. I am happy to answer any other questions you have . Kind regards, Tony Marsh.

@@tonymarshharveytron1970 ~ «As the matter making up the planets is deformed by these gravitational forces, energy is provided by the gravitational forces.» Compare the amount of energy in gravity waves coming from perturbations in the center of mass of the sun with the amount of energy lost in the sloshing of the tides. The latter is causing a significant lengthening of the day, and far exceeds the nearly undetectable amount of energy in gravitational waves from the sun.

@@BarryKort Thank you Barry for your reply. With respect to you, I think you may have misunderstood what I was saying in my reply. There has to be a distinction between ' Gravitational forces ', and ' gravitational waves '. ' Gravitational waves ', is an unfortunate name given to these waves, as they have nothing to do with gravity. They are in fact just ripples formed in a coneying medium, the ( Harveytron Cloud ), as a result of applied force. I do agree with you that the so called gravitational waves of incredibly week, as has been proven by how hard it has been to detect them, as was discovered by LIGO. I refer to the gravitationall forces associated with planetary mass. Since the sun contains over 99% of all of the mass in our planitery solar system, the gravitational forces exerted by the sun on the earth is enormouse. It is strong enough to actually deform the shape of the earth as it rotates. The amount of energy contained in all of the tides on earth, pail into insignificance in comparison with the gravitational force of the sun. I am happy to answer any more of your questions. Kind regards Tony Marsh.

@@tonymarshharveytron1970 ~ Gravitational waves are perturbations in the strength of the gravitational field. Perturbations in the force of gravity have everything to do with the force of gravity. How can you construct an inequality between two quantities of different units (i.e. energy and force)? That makes no mathematical sense to me. Also the tides on the Earth are mainly caused by the Moon, and arise because of the diurnal rotation of the Earth on its axis, with negligible effect in tiny perturbations in the distance from the Earth to the Sun's center of mass. The Earth's orbit is elliptical, so there is far more variation in the distance from the non-circularity of the Earth's orbit compared to internal perturbations of the Sun's own center of mass.
