Excellent choice of handle and bolster materials. That knife really turned out fantastic I learned so much in this video. I can’t wait to apply it to my own knife restorations. How did you create your buffing wheel on the drill press at the end? It appeared as if you had something wrapped around a drillbit. Also thanks for showing more of the finish knife at the end that was perfect!
@southernknifehobbyist27 күн бұрын
@@stephenjeffrey75 I brought a few of those buffing "wheels" from an import tool store. They were cheap. Harbor Freight has some that look like more traditional buffing wheels, and come with the arbor and everything for under $10

When you soldered the brass to the aluminum, could a small bit of epoxy be used there as well? Just wondering.
@southernknifehobbyist20 күн бұрын
@@jasonjanis814 I soldered the brass to the steel liners. Solder will not stick to aluminum. Epoxy might hold, but I wanted to take a traditional route. A lot of manufacturers pin the bolsters to the liners. That works well with no need to solder.

Can you repair a broken back spring?
@southernknifehobbyist22 күн бұрын
I do not know of any way to repair a broken backspring. It will have to be replaced. If you can tell me the make and model of the knife, I can see if I have a replacement spring off of a parts knife. Otherwise, I have seen some guys who have made replacement backsprings, but I have not ever done it. Email any information and pictures of the knife to stkservices@gmail.com Thank you!

Awesome great video and knife build. You do great work. What do you charge to make a knife like that and put a person's name on it? Many, Many thumbs up to you and your videos.
@southernknifehobbyist25 күн бұрын
I have not been ignoring you, just thinking it over. I made this one for a close friend, so I did not charge him much for it. My biggest hesitation at your request is that I have no good way to out someone's name on a knife. I do not have a mini-CNC or laser engraver, or anything like that. And even I cannot read my handwriting consistently. Email me if you want a knife without that, and we can discuss it further. STKservicesAL@gmail.com
