If it had PCIe 5.0 inside, it would be even better. A Crucial T700 for example can go faster than these numbers.

Any chance for a fan cooled u.2 thunderbolt 5 enclosure? I think it would be great if we could use SSD(s) that can fully use that thunderbolt 5 connection. My u.2 tb4 enclosure actually write faster than the drive/enclosure combo simply because enterprise SSD have much faster sustained write speed.

You're capped at TB4 speeds unless the motherboard supports TB5. Unlikely that bios updates to older hardware will bring TB5 compatibility since I believe TB5 has a higher minimum power output too.

Bro try it with egpu. The thundebolt 4 issue it 40gb bandwidth. And driver compability, make fps very low. And not good as usb 4 on handheld console. I watched comparison on other channel

Were the tests on the Mac performed with a Thunderbolt 5 or a Thunderbolt 4 cable? Will it vary if I happen to use either one?

if its a mac you could use a thunderbolt 60 cable itd make no difference, 40gbps is the limit of the port

It's a dog.. 1.5 GB/sec sustained transfer rate is nothing to crow about. Internal NVMe drives are doing transfers above 8GB/sec now, and Thunderbolt 5's should deliver 5000GB/sec sustained as a bare minimum.

They said 48 Gbps, and you’re getting 4.1GBps, or 32 Gbps?. Which is the theoretical Maximum. TB5 should offer up to 80Gbps for bidirectional.

what? that is so slow. 64 gbps is 8000 megabytes. 900 GByte file. at the theoretical speeds should have taken 1min 53 seconds. it took 10 + mins why? 2 minute 40 seconds tops. you've got a problem in there. try it with a Mac.
