Why would that be inappropriate? The Salem witch trials happened in one period of time. Doesn’t mean you can’t make a story about witches during that time or around that time. It’s up to the writer if they’ll want it to have anything to do with the trials or not with their story. They’re not even real….. It would be the same as saying it would be inappropriate to make a Jewish story within the same century of World War 2. But since witches are fictional beings, it rly doesn’t matter how you depict them as long as you don’t deliberately make your witch story into something that is like sexist or racist.
