Out of Sachin’s 100 centuries, India won 53 matches and drawn 20 matches and lost 27 times. In many cases Sachin century was not enough because other batsmen failed to score. For me Sachin’s batting truly feels like a poetry. Whether it was his straight drives, the mastery over spin, or his adaptability across formats and conditions it’s just phenomenal.

@@Suraj-h7t 2 occasions out of 350 plus total innings is not even a sample size. Vs Pakistan we lost. He could not do 16 more runs. Clearly he could not handle saqlain Mushtaq and got out hitting. Pls don't argue on his 4th innings average. You will get nothing. Test matches are always won or lost in 4th innings. I am from Mumbai I am also fan of his craft but definitely he was not there when it matters. Pains to mention this but that's the truth. All his imperious innings have come in losing cause it's a fact. 114 at Perth 169 in south Africa 116 at MCG and 136 at Chennai. Pls think twice before mentioning his ability to adapt and still if you need to mention then pls put 1st innings brilliance. He is the closest to batting perfection. That's it.

Lol bro Windies team was not any better than India during most of Lara's career. In fact, India's batting for most of Tendulkar's career (with Azharuddin, Dravid, Ganguly, Laxman, Sehwag) in team, Tendulkar had a better batting line-up to rely on. Once set, its almost impossible to get Laras wicket. That's the reason why he was able to achieve 375, 400, 500-+ in an innings.Lara when in mood, completely dominated the bowlers we used to clearly see that bowlers surrender to his batting class & they don't know how to get him out. Where in Sachin on the other hand even after scoring a double hundred, used to poke the ball outside the off stump. That's why he couldn't make a 250 in 24 years of cricket. I had the privilege of watching both of these legends bat, in my opinion Brian Charless Lara was a better batsman.

One a 100+ scores, lara had stayed notout only 2/34 times has declared only 1/34 times ( that too after reaching the peakmost acheivement 400* - in course drawning a grabbable match) on other hand , sachin had stayed 17/51 hundreds notout...exactly 1/3rd...(either match ended as draw or team was allout) 9/51 times India declared the innings to try to win the match, 7 of which are 150+ scores (including that 194*)...in short, while playing a 100+ innings, it. Was sachin who was really left untouched/unbeaten the most !!! He never had the chance to show his full potential in 33.33% of his centuries, while lara couldn't play a full innings only 2.9% ( or simply just 1 innings , if we consider 400* as a full innings that could be played).... Don't forget that in oneball -ODI ( when only 1 ball was used and reverse swing worked for last 10 overs), sachin was the only man to score a 200 and held the most 150+ scores record....(others started scoring 200s & multiple 150s only after one ball in odi was changed to 2 new balls from both end , so that reverse swing will be absent and batsmen can play last 10-15 overs in t20 style)

Tendulkar has great backup support in co batsman. Lara didn't. Also Lara played most of his match in unfriendly batting fast bowler track whereas Sachin played in batting friendly asian pitch

look at their stats, Lara averages 58 at home against 52 for Sachin, Sachin averages 50 in NZL, ENGland and Australia, Lara averages only 41. Sachin has played more than half of his innings outside India which is 40% for Lara. Lara struggled in England, Australia, NZL, India and Pakistan. Sachin struggled only in South Africa where he still averaged 46 same as Lara. Lara played most of his Innings in Flat West Indian Wickets and struggled everywhere else other than SriLanka(Again Flat Spin Friendly wickets), But still failed in Pakistan and India(Spin friendly Flat wickets) Except 3 of the greatest innings played in test Cricket, Lara was quite ordinary batsman.

As a batsman it's all about pitch and conditions. In Indian subcontinent not only Lara but no one in the world around Sachin. You just can't imagine that someone can bat better than Sachin in our pitches and conditions while in the sena countries there are many competitive names like Lara, ponting and others. Even VVS Laxman has his own class particularly in Australia which perhaps even no Australian batter can achieve.

Windies never won any tournaments and series after 1995 and only Brian Lara was carrying the side. Meanwhile, in 90's we have Rahul and Ganguly making their debut and Azhar was in peak form in the early 90's. Sachin was shouldering a lot of responsibility but only batting cannot win matches. As the India team evolved, Sachin's batting flair began to shine and he grew as the strategies and began to contribute more with the ball as well. Laxman had scored 8k runs, does it mean he was not one of the finest test batsman of india? No, it was because he himself batted at that position in which it’s required to play with the tail and you do not have much opportunity to score big runs. Plus dada was the captain of the team so he had to manage the team as well not solely focusing on his batting. Even after all this the guy scored more than 7k test runs, which clearly tells me that he was a great test batsman apart from being one of the greatest batsman in the odi format

Nice video. As an indian we are little biased towards Sachin. However, as a cricket fan in terms of batting ability, Lara was ahead of Sachin in Tests. In ODI , sachin was better than Lara. Sachin was an opener that was also an advantage. Overall as i said, in terms of watching, Lara is slightly better than Sachin. This is my opinion :)

Sachin broke Lara's record in more matches . Lara scored more runs in pressure and bowlers feared him more than Tendulkar. Just recently saw the podcast of Jarrod kimber where he said that he asked something like 70+ world class batters that who was a better batsmen and 80-90% said LARA. Sachin had a better defensive technique than Lara but Lara was a destroyer of bowling of any sorts. Sachin had longevity which is a sign of greatness but everyone knows his last 3 years and the struggles while Lara scored double hundreds for fun in his last year. ( 2006 ). Sachin had the likes of Laxman Dravid sehwag while Lara played with Chandrapaul. Enough said. Lara the greater batsmen , sachin prolly greater career with WC wins and etc

But we compare with what we got, and we should always compare finished careers. Look at steven smith. He became the fastest batsman to 7000, 8000 and 9000 test runs., but he has already played more innings than sachin and lara to complete 10,000 test runs and has not yet scored 10,000 test runs. Gambhir peaked at an average of 59 in 28 yest matches, dravid once achieved the batting average of 59 in 2002. Pujara achieved a peak batting average of 62. If we use 'hypothetically', then I also have one in favor of sachin. What if sachin had no career injuries i.i. back pain and tennis elbow and hadn't missed 19 test matches amd still continued playing on lofted shots. I can't believe how some people assume that Lara wasn't consistent enough! One player averages 52.88, while another averages 53.78. Lara remained not out in only 6 innings, with scores of 400*, 153* and 80* (2 match-winning innings). In contrast, Sachin was not out in 33 innings, with only one of them being a match-winner. Do people realize what Lara's average would be if he had played for avg? He is the only batsman in history who has scored over 5,000 runs while remaining not out only 6 times(2.5%). During his career, he contributed 20% of his team's total runs, while only Sir Don Bradman scored 23%. What consistency! Test matches cannot be determined by small scores like 70 or 80; it requires marathon innings. Sachin scored 5 Test centuries against the mighty Bangladesh, including a high score of 249*. If we only consider textbook cricket, then I don't think Sachin can be compared to Dravid, Kallis, and Sangakkara. Many Indians during that era just watched cricket for entertainment without doing any critical analysis. They just watched for fun.

Lara started playing late because the West Indies team at that time made it difficult for anyone to create opportunities in that world-class side. Do you know what the condition of the West Indies Cricket Board was during Lara's playing years? If he had a backing board like Tendulkar, who was pushed to break records by the board conducting Bangladesh tour, Lara could have played until he was 40 and scored over 50 centuries with a high average and runs,( just check laras record from 2003. )He retired from Test cricket partly because of the West Indies Board. However, we need to consider their entire careers; otherwise, we might argue that Shane Bond was better than Wasim Akram. In the mid-90s, Tendulkar was indeed very good, but after suffering from tennis elbow, there was little difference between Tendulkar and Dravid and others. That is a fact. I'm not saying I would place Lara ahead of Sachin in ODIs, but in Test cricket and pure batsmanship, nobody is close to Lara.

I am not doing this comment purely based on my emotions but a pure analysis. I think this video is very biased. I agreed Sachin was way ahead in ODIs. But in tests Lara was a monster. You have missed many aspects of comparison. Lara was a part of a very weak batting side yet he performed he has got the record of most lone centuries. Lara was a much bigger match winner than Sachin. In fact I don’t remember any test innings where Sachin just came and take the game away from the opposition and won. Rahul Dravid was better at it. In terms of playing marathon innings which is a very important part of test format. Lara was way way ahead of Sachin if he gets going he will go on and on and keep making runs. Sachin could never pass 500 runs in a test series whereas Lara scored almost 700 runs in a series of 3 matches only so He was a run machine when on song. Sachin could never achieve a rating of 900 in tests whereas Lara had 930 odd. So for me Sachin was a better batsman in ODIs but in Tests Sachin might be more consistent throughout his overall career but Lara was more dominant, had more impact, was a bigger match winner and a lone warrior. It’s not that Indian team at its peak but the batting line up was still stable after 96 and became strong after the arrival of Dravid, Ganguly and Laxman check their stats Dravid And Ganguly averaged 50 approx between 96-2001 and Laxman near 45. So Sachin had a very good support in terms of batting line. And if you compare with Lara’s team after 87-87 there were so many mess ups going on in WI cricket board and their cricket started dipping the bowling line up was still good ambrose and Walsh and batting order completely shook and there was no one who could play anchor role. Lara was the only warrior that’s why if you see stats Lara has the most lone centuries for his team. Also there are so many what you will never be shown and don’t want to believe either because of fanboyism. Sachin has got a poor record against Aus when McGrath played He has a poor record when Wasim Waqar played the only great fast bowler he has got some success against was Curly Ambrose. He has played seven series against(Donald, McGrath, Akram) including home & away and He managed to average 50+ only in one series that too in his Home 2000-01. In the list of top 25 test innings of all time no innings of Sachin will be included in that list of sure but there will be at least 3 innings of Lara. Sachin and Lara both were agressive batsman. But Sachin changed his game in test to score more runs and Lara played his natural game. Sachin had the luxury of batsman like Dravid, Laxman, Ganguly, Gambhir who could play defensively whereas Lara didn't have the same only Chanderpaul could play long innings. It's interesting to see Lara playing aggressively inspite of no defensive players. The result Lara played more match winning innings and Tendulkar scored more runs.

Consistency matters more than 1 or 2 big innings !!! Also lara stayed not outs mainly on 2 figure scores !!! Only 1/34of his hundreds where decred (400*) while once he remained not out !!! Accuratly speaking lara has only 1 /34 incomplete century , while all his 33 hundrerd he batted fully to his maximum score possible !!! On the other hand 17 of sachin‘s 51 hundreds are unbeaten ( 13 i think where declared) !!! 8 of his 150+ scores where notouts, 4 of his 7 190+ scores where notouts and accurately speaking sachin played only 34/51 hundreds to his full potential !!! Test cricket is real cricket. If we keep Sir Don out of the context, then Sir Garfield sobers , Sunil Gavskar and LARA are the best batsmen in the Test. I only seen Tendulkar winning a Trophy for India was the Coca Cola Cup in the UAE in 1998. Tendulkar played among Match fixers until 2000s post 2000 sachin had other match winners in the Team Ganguly, Sehwag, Dravid, Laxman, Yuvraj, Harbhajan, Kumble, Zaheer ! T Post 2000s I seen Sachin Tendulkar playing along side 6-8 match winners but still never one a Final of the world cup or a major Tri series on his own !!! Now about Lara, Lara played amongst absolute idiots around him until 2000s he had Walsh and Ambrose support but post 2000s they also retired I often seen Lara challenge Australia single handedly and win Test matches he would have absolutely no support from the other end to top it all even Westindies bowlers were not top class anymore once Ambrose and Walsh retired. When Lara played he was sublime, Classy his shots were like watching an artist perform on canvas. And boy o boy he scored big big daddy hundreds and his opponents would be Australia and England. Lara kya mara ❤❤❤ About Sachin India won the 2007 world cup because of Yuvraj and Dhoni, India won the 2011 World Cup because of Yuvraj and Gambhir I seen Kohli winning more games single handedly for India than Sachin!! Dravid infact in Sachins era won India more matches than Sachin and Dravid did it Single handedly So my World class batsman will be Lara, Dravid and Sachin will come last as he only played for records and himself 🫡

The question itself is disrespectful to Sachin. To decide who is better we have to stick to objective metrics and not subjective criteria such as who was more talented or whose shots were more beautiful to watch. Sachin's consistency over 24 years, across all formats of the game, makes him the greatest batsman of the modern era. Others might be great but they are below him.

I hope sir u will reply to this, even jarrod said lara was more innovative but i can count many shots that sachin played nd then no one else played those shots at his level, for ex- paddle sweep, in one version of sweep he flicked the ball, he played this mostly in ipl, second pull coming down the track, i remember match where he hit this shot to hoggard later bazz mastered this shot, one shot which i think no one else played after him was some sort of upper cut nd square cut which he played in 2012 australia series bcoz of excessive bounce on those pitches nd there r many more shots like these. Lastly we say sachin was a complete batsmen like we say federer was a perfect player isn't this inherently means that he plays most of the shots of cricket that r there?

One more thing even when we talk about traditional shots, sachin had 3-4 variations of cover drive, on the other hand while mentioning the stock shot of fab 4 in test cricket jarrod mentioned that sachin was different for a reason that he can hit u dead straight drives all tge day nd then he has another shot for good length 4th stump ball that is his on drive, so what i m trying to say is even when we compare him to fab 4, he is still like an alien who had unreal capabilities
