Sacramento also has a massive budget deficit. Voters are not gonna stand for stadium funding when city services and such is on the chopping block.

I bet they will. It’s a regional draw. And when Vegas falls through for the A’s, Sac will be there to swoop in. The Railyards is already slated for a stadium, and the infrastructure is there. It will be a partnership of public and private financing, much like Golden1 Center.

@@bullwinkle2380 I disagree. I think it will fall through when the recession hits. The housing market in Vegas is already not doing well. And in a city so dependent on tourism, if that goes away, the money will dry up.

Nobody in their right mind thought that they would consider using that old foundation for a new stadium. If there is ever to be a MLB stadium it would probably be in the railyards near he proposed MLS stadium.

There have been plenty of folks not in a right mind pushing the Natomas foundation as a ballpark solution.

Anybody with any construction sense knows, looking at that Arco slab, that every bit of that concrete will have to be excavated, adding to any construction costs for a new ballpark. The only conceivable advantage to using that space is the "continuation of prior use" exemption that the site "might" have from having to do the EIS, offset analyses, and all that ovdr again - perhaps saving two to three years. Other than that, it ruins the Innovation Park plans (which would be far more beneficial to Sac than the A's would)...

Great points, here. Sort of takes the "wind out of the sails" for any hopes of Sacramento hosting the A's permanently. 🤔It HAS to be done privately, and Fisher can't get that done. He would have to SELL, and we know how that is going. Fisher is going to fondle Vivek for three years, and then take the best offer after that, like a Portland or SLC and finish the hand job, by himself.

There’s no way that the City of Sacramento would be able to help with financing a new stadium after going all in on the Golden One Center. MLS wanted public financing from Sacramento for the Republics stadium and couldn’t get it. I don’t know if Yolo County would be able to get public funds since Sutter Health Park is in West Sacramento but I doubt that, too.

If he wants a new Major League sport then she should just pony up for a MLS team. The league wanted to go there before Ron dropped out. The city had everything in place and the mayor is still up for it. It would also be MUCH cheaper than a MLB team.

On any level, the "city of Sacramento" lacks the ability to house and keep any major league baseball team. The city government is a complete joke, has been for decades and it also lacks the ability to get and maintain corporate funding for major league baseball. Look at the homeless problem there also, sad and disgusting. Send the A's to Utah. Nope, I don't live there, never will. I lived 47 years in Suc Town, then the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Now Texas is my home. Watching Suc Towners get excited for the Yankees minor league team (the AAA's) amuses me. I do thing the Sunrise Mall site would be great for a baseball stadium, ect. I'm not sure about the reality of it though. Maybe Roseville has the money to do this as well. The "city of Sacramento" has become a large slum. Open your eyes "Suc Towners". Kick out the scum politicians and rebuild.
