These “scare tactics” won’t work with a coyote with rabies. If you see a fearless coyote and you’re not armed gtfo there

No seriously though, lips up, circling, eyes possibly rolled back, tail moving in weird ways, that’s a sign to ditch that spot and get inside NOW! They’ll bite anything in their way. But likely hood is low, especially if seen at night. During the day means they are hungry as heck so still be aware of little ones and small pets even ones in cages outdoors.

So, why is no one reporting the fact that human activity continues to encroach upon the wild?

Shouldnt people have control over their pets like keeping your cats indoors and not letting them roam the streets? Personally, Im ok with the coyotes. I think people have a greater responsibility than an animal thats just trying to make it.

If they catch a cat 🤷🏽 let em eat. That's on the owner, can't blame the coyote.
@MissSilencedogood

Most cats don't roam the street at least the female ones they prefer to stay in backyard areas in small perimeters. Males roam. However that isn't the point when your child gets attacked by these monsters! Coyote overpopulation is real and it needs to be handled by animal control and have much more frequent coyote hunts. Only 90,000 killed and still they are breeding too fast. They are a danger to people and livestock.

@@MissSilencedogood you're sooo full of it. I just looked it up because I've had cats and it didn't sound right: males have a territorial range of 150 acres while FEMALEs have a range of 40 acres. Either way, they're not native to our land, coyotes are. And, on top of that we have continuously encroached on their territory which means there are more pressures on them and their natural food sources so they're improving. Keep your non-native animals indoors if you really care that much.

@@eddiepadilla1078 WRONG. "Males have larger territories than females. The territories of a male cat may overlap with those of several females, increasing his odds of finding a mate. The average male outdoor cat may have a territory of a few acres, while a female’s may be much smaller." Most females walk small perimeters of a neighborhood. "This means that your average male cat is likely to stay within 1500 feet of home, while your average female tends not to go much farther than 75 (225 feet) yards from your door." You didn't bother to read the fine print or you were being purposely deceitful :) FYI yards are less than feet. Evidently you have never heard the term "Tom catting" lol. Their food sources have always remained the same rodents, and whatever they can kill as a pack. YES they travel often in packs taking down much larger prey. Humans are not off that list. A woman was almost taken down and attacked in midtown by a coyote. They have gone after LARGE dogs and pitbulls. A coyote in a backyard with a child on a swing in lightening speed could kill a child especially in a pack long before a parent could reach them. It is little solace to a family to know it was not the coyote's fault. Right now the encroachment is the human tent camps. The coyote's even in rural areas are OVERPOPULATED. They are currently killing 90,000 a year in hunting them down as much as possible as their numbers sky rocket. It isn't encroachment it is poorly managed wildlife management. Sacramento better get off its rear end and do something about it before it becomes like L.A. where coyote attacks become common place.

Stop hunting their food supply. They are hungry for a reason. That's why they are down here.
@MissSilencedogood

Their food supply is anything they can take down that is the way it has always been they also hunt in packs during the day.. again what if that is your kid in the backyard playing they move like lighting, I have seen then clear 6 foot fences! They are regularly snatching pets and even larger animals than themselves pitbulls no problem. They hunt in packs. The problem is they are over populated and the fact the homeless have taken over their territory along the river etc..

Their food supply includes pitbulls and any dog as well. Well maybe not a Presa but if there were 2 of them a Presa would have a hard time fighting 2-3 coyotes at a time and they attack lighting fast. What if those are your kids in the backyard on a swing out during the daytime ? They would be on the coyote menu without a doubt.

I was just playing fetch with my dog in the backyard and a Coyote was in my trees and chased my dog with teeth bared. I yelled and flailed my arms and he ran away, but not far and turned to face off with me. Not good! I live in Citrus Heights next to Cripple Creek near Twin Oaks and Mariposa. Beware for your pets and small children!
