Governments focuses should have been on people and their citizens wellbeing. Their focuses have made them drift off the path. Governments should measure their citizens wellbeing , by making sure those at the bottom financially are above the poverty line, if not they need to be. Shelter is a basic human right it should never have been turned into an investment commodity allowing over inflated house prices. There's nothing else to say, but that governments mostly, but not all, have dropped the ball when it comes to their citizens wellbeing. Somehow good people have to take the power back. There are churches and programs that will pay for your deposit to rent a place and utilities to get turned on, you just have to find them. I am a property manager and they pay new tenant's deposits to us all the time and this is in Florida, a republican state. I would assume the democrats would offer even more resources, or at least that's what they tell you. Nobody chooses to become homeless, but one can choose to STAY homeless. You can get out of that situation if you truly are not drinking/doing drugs. Start going to a church and they will help you, I guarantee you. If not, you need to get down to the Florida panhandle by any means possible. "90 works" will help you where I'm at. Idk if they're just local or if there's other locations. And everywhere is hiring. I feel so bad for her and this is so heartbreaking, no one needs to be homeless
@henryshockem92422 жыл бұрын
Her choice. Poor problem solving skills. She's been out there for three years? and still can't find a place or a shelter or agency that will help her? Bull shit! She waits till the last minute when they are cleaning up the neighborhood and getting rid of the refuse, human and otherwise. Then she cries that no one will help her and her kids? The state should have rescued those kids long ago from the filthy rat infested hovel they were living in. Three years! Now she wants help and turns on the tears to try and get it. There are plenty of state resources that are available to help. But yes, there are rules. No Drugs, No Alcohol, Curfews, Daily chores, Counseling, etc. etc. But Noooo, "your not gonna tell me what to do" seems to be the prevailing attitude. She has spent most of her life Getting high and procrastinating, and letting others give her hand outs to take care of her kids, she parades them up front so people will feel sorry for them. Its pathetic. A single mother with minor children has tons of resources available to her in these times. Especially in Oregon. So don't buy it. Its all Bullshit. The tears, the act, There's prob not even any kids. Did you see any? No, They convieniently are not there that day. Some one else is watching over them. Which is prob every day. She just pulls 'em out when she needs them. I don't believe one bit of her tripe!

I'm going to be brutally honest. I grew up around people that do drugs I have friends that still do drugs and no I don't mean weed. I mean meth, heroin etc. I feel for this lady but she does not look healthy and not healthy as in she needs to be. You definitely looks like she partakes in some hardcore drugs and until she gets genuine help with that she's not going to better her life or her situation. it also doesn't help that we have made it extremely easy for people to be homeless in this state. You can get free food Free shelter free cell phones and now you can camp absolutely anywhere you want for however long you want. A majority of these people would prefer to live that way. They literally don't have to do anything and they prefer it that way there's no helping them especially when everything is already given to them for free. Why would they want to change? That's not to say that there are a decent amount of people out there that do want help, genuinely. I do believe that there's a very large percentage of them though that could care less. It has gotten so bad everywhere I go. I can't take my son on a bike ride on a bike trail without running into some encampment along the creek or the river. These areas are always littered with massive amounts of garbage, liquor bottles, used condoms, dead animals, feces, used needles, meth pipes etc. How is that okay?

I understand your argument both for and against the people's situation(it is case by case). Nevertheless, we, including me, can always take a better stance in aiding. We may not have caused a homeless persons position, but we can extent compassion to soften some of their harsh experiences like giving clean water, clothes, sanitary supplies ect rather than seeing it as enabling. None of us knows what life events will unfold for us. As for as you and your son riding by and being inconvenienced with seeing them and their belongings, I'm sure they would like to be able to say the same instead of living it in real time.
@camillepotter54763 жыл бұрын
Its really hard. Sacramento has gotten so bad. Our bike lanes are blocked with people camping in them or their tv's blocking them. Not to mention the crime its bringing into our neighborhoods. Cars are getting broken into left and right. Sus people are creeping around. Its all over Nextdoor with neighbors sharing the daily frustration of the crime that is creeping in with the camps. I am a single mom with a daughter, that is homeschooled and always has been. When I almost ended up buying a bus or a trailer, first I made sure I found a place where it was going to be parked legally on someone's property. Where there is a will there's a way, BECAUSE there are so many resources available to us, especially with children in our care, there is a way to get back on our feet. But I also don't have a substance abuse problem either. I feel for this lady but people can't just be parking and living in rat infested garbage heaps. It causes a huge problem. The rat population has skyrocketed during the pandemic and there are so many near these camps, squished by cars. I see them as roadkill when I ride my bike all over the City of Sacramento and particularly near the camps. Its not health for her, her kids or anyone to keep their rat infested things either.

I believe you’re one of the greedy ones. You find it acceptable because you’re greedy too. You hope that your greed will help you become extremely wealthy one day. Like if you had an option one morning to become disgustingly wealthy and lose your soul in the process you’d happily take it. There’s the palpable greed of the wealthy and then there’s hopeful greed from poor people who wish to also have everything while others starve to death. You’re just as bad if not worse as a billionaire because you don’t even have that money tainting you. You hope for it and that’s disgusting.

I came very close to homelessness a few times and avoiding it was a real struggle. When i see how bad living conditions have sunken, I am glad I am childless, as i probably spared others the constant fear and worries I went through by just not having enough money. Look at the way this city, state, and nation are treating the most vulnerable people who have nowhere to go. Life is already thoroughly tough enough without such brutality. To whoever is responsible for allowing and causing so much suffering, you should be deeply ashamed of yourselves.
@lh60972 жыл бұрын
My question is where is their family? There is always more to the story. Their options are always free money, free housing, and free food while everyone else has to get up and go to work to pay taxes for all those programs. I am sick of not being able to enjoy the park with my kids where I grew up because they take over. Can I opt out of paying taxes for these programs? Most of these people don't want to work or want to go straight.

Nobody gives a crap about the homeless, nobody wants to deal with the homeless. This is your future, people! If not yours, your neighbor or family member. All that freaking money in California, yet they can't even take care of the most vulnerable of citizens, this is a shame! If everybody gave a dollar today in California, you could provide housing to take care of your vulnerable citizens, so do something about it today.

The POLITICIANS don't give a crap about homeless people. They will not fix the problem because the problem is too profitable. L A county spends about a million per year per homeless person. A third grader could do the math and allot appropriate division of resources to heal and house the homeless with that exorbitant amount of federal money. Its purposeful neglect to soak the federal government for more housing $$. Know the play. If you support Newsome, you support this purposeful suffering. The stats speak for themselves.

Everyone needs to get involved, not just the politicians. Set up a plan and a fund. The organizers need to go around and ask for peoples help. Set up a non profit organization. Use every tool available, go fund me, etc…Make a plan and find out who needs the most help first. Start with them. I believe a lot of these people just can’t do it on their own anymore. Your community needs to get involved. Someone needs to spearhead this or your streets will be turned into slums and these poor people will stay marginalized. They need to be sheltered, cleaned up and healed. It’s the community’s responsibility as-well as government. They can’t do it on their own. The reason they're going after these camps is the sheer amount of trash they build up. If it was just a bunch of motorhomes that didn't look decrepit people wouldn't really care too much. What really kills sympathy for these people is when they leave a trash pile 6 ft high and 30 ft long a few hundred feet from private homes. That's when local residents get enraged.
