I lived in Mammoth Lakes back in the 80s and my brother was the original owner of Fat Alberts restaurant. We had many great trips fishing on Crowley and it's great to see the water nice and clear as we were having to deal with huge algae blooms the last couple years living there. Thanks for sharing your trip and reminding me of how beautiful the whole area is.

You can get there with any vehicle and There is a nice marina there. You do need a boat to get to the perch spots. Good luck.

Once you're out on the lake, how do you decide where to fish (especially with no electronics)? Did you just pull up near to where several other boats were fishing? Thanks for your help!
@fishingaddict5638 Жыл бұрын
Yes, especially now. There should be a lot of boats and kayaks that would be the easiest way.

Awesome, I wonder why we don’t have them here in Texas.
@fishingaddict56382 жыл бұрын
I think they’re a high altitude lake fish. This lake is at roughly 7000 feet high. If there are bluegill around bluegills and other small fish will eat there eggs as the perch do not guard there eggs.
@aProudOG2 жыл бұрын
A different outing for sure. Factoring in table fare considerations, would you do it again and if so how would you change your search pattern without the benefit of electronics? Any other new adventures on your “to do” list?
@fishingaddict56382 жыл бұрын
I think as the water gets warmer more of them will come into the shallows. I think we were a little early. So next trip would be searching the same areas. I’d like to rock fish next when weather permits.
@fvang47512 жыл бұрын
@@fishingaddict5638 We will be there next following weekend. Hopefully that's enough time for them to get warmed up. Surprise it is still cold... Hopefully the fish finder will help

Amazing how much like crappie those perch look..... Y'all did a arresting job getting on a good bite without electronics..... Did y'all rent that boat? The mountains back there make some beautiful scenery.....Stay At'um!
@fishingaddict56382 жыл бұрын
Yes we rented a basic aluminum boat. This is a high altitude lake at 7000 feet high. No electronics just meant a lot more searching. Appreciate you stopping by SK.

I would like to stock them in my pond, but they're rare. I've done extensive research on Sacramento Perch and they would do well in the south.

I live in their native range and I wish we could catch them here but they’re pretty much extinct in the wild. Hopefully, one day I can get some to put in my pond and maybe create an insurance colony for future reintroductions.
