This day I explored a house abandoned next to a cemetery. The amount of women's clothing we found was overwhelming. I guess you could call it hoarding. I don't know why someone would leave behind all of their belongings...Just can't wrap my head around it sometimes. Tell me what you think about this situation!! Thank you so much for watching.

These videos really solidify the fact that material possessions are meaningless after we are gone, so super glue everything down before you kick the bucket to make sure whoever comes in next will have to work for your stuff.

I am not sure what went on here. But years ago, my sister-in-law was diagnosed with Lupus, and the sicker she got the more stuff she bought. I am not sure why. But her whole closet was full of clothes she never wore. My Mom and her mom had to go in and clean up her stuff and look for paperwork, legal papers, etc... I was at home and I got a phone call , a Woman's voice asked me, "Nikki?" I answered "Yes" ... I recognised her voice , it was my sister-in-law who had died a few days before...( she also had worked for the phone company) She then said " Closet...under clothes...box..." And the call ended... I called up my mom... And told her what I heard, she went to the closet and she found under a large stack of clothes ( all new with tags still on them ) a box with her will and deed to the house and all her papers... Before she got sick she kept house very well, when she was sick I tried to help, but I worked , I was newly married and only 19. Sometimes people are hoarders before dying... Usually older people who do not waste stuff, but it all gets out of control. I grew up learning to not waste stuff, save everything...but a year before my mom died she started to throw away everything... She knew she was going to die, I mean she had a FEELING... When I saw the take out containers in her kitchen, the plastic ones, I could tell she was this kind of person, save everything... A hoarder. You never know WHY people get like that...for some it is a fear of doing without.. For others it is an illness...Maybe some think that the more they have , the more they can HANG ON TOO? This was a very good explore and an eye opening one at that. Really made me think about stuff... Thank You !

The phone call you recieved was of your sister but she had passed away BEFORE you got the call from her?! That is so scary... and it's so sad, you lose your mind when you get so sick. You feel all hope is lost and just give yourself up...

Wow...what to say!! Wonder what set apart the 5 or 6 items of clothing making them merit hanging up when the thousand other pieces had to be on the floor. Neither can I get my head or heart around the way these places are left. It must truly be difficult to see this so many times. These videos have honestly changed me to be sure & clean out & de-junk my place as I am approaching that time of life that I might depart & leave things for my kids. I can't bear that thought of my place ending up like that! Thank you for a life changing lesson.

Is it wrong that my inner hoarder wanted that ornate wooden desk/hutch/shelf thing at 2:58?It looked like it could be cleaned up and restored real nice...I also noticed in the kitchen cabinet a mint green school lunch tray I would totally dig.I think after watching these I am aspiring to collect the coolest hoard so when you explore it it will be a nice change from old clothes,food and plastic crap.Onward through the hoard!!(It's nice to have goals!)

Been there, done that. My house looked like a cluttered antique shop. People use to come and visit just to look at all my rare treasures. After a while all the stuff begins to feel like a ball and chain, and all you want is to break the bonds and be free of it.

job3831 That is a very true statement!I can't tell you how many times I have collected and purged.The older you get,it becomes easier to seperate want from need-I'm still a sucker for knick knacky retro stuff,even though once I clear out,I enjoy the open spaces as much as I enjoyed the stuff! : )

Purging is stressful if you count the cost and feel the need to sell and break even. My goal now is to only "catch and release". Find cool stuff, admire the craftsmanship, and leave it in the care of its current owner.

I have come to learn as Americans we have so much stuff we can abandoned a home and just leave all of it in the home. There are enough abandon hospitals, prisons, Churches, businesses and homes to give the homeless a place to live. Enough abandon clothing to cloth them. Just from watching Abandoned videos !!!!! We are a wasteful bunch of people that is for sure these videos prove it.
@bafriend7419
@bafriend7419 7 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you. Every time I watch these abandoned videos, I think about how these clothes, coats, windows, doors, etc. could be recycled and repurposed for those in need. I bet every homeless person in the county could be provided with what they need from the waste in America.

I think vandals got in here & destroyed. Noticed the books are still lined up on the shelf, along with glass ware. The owner could be in a nursing home, considering some of the old clothes.

I just find it interesting that there's 3 different elements to this: (1) too much stuff in general, (2) no separation of the actual trash/garbage from everything else, (3) the house itself literally crumbling and falling down around the junk (especially that kitchen ceiling!). Usually I only see the first two...so rarely do I see so much modern/recent stuff in a structure that looks like a hundred years of pure neglect.

Late to the game, but commenting anyway. Kelvinator brand appliances were top line, made and sold in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. That refrigerator was probably from the 50’s, 60’s. The company went belly up in the 1980’s I think.
