Being a Toyota fan myself I am delighted on the outcome. However there are variables that should be equal before a test like this could be carried out. The weight over both rear axels should be exactly the same. Also the same tyres should be used. And after a run the two vehicles must swop positions and go again.

The weight can't be the same because then you would be modifying the cars instead of testing them in their stock condition. The toyota having a lightweight bed is part of its design and should be tested that way,

I am a Landcruiser fan, but I have to admit, in the Amarok's defense, the Cruiser had all-terrain tyers while the Rok had plain road tyers, also the Cruiser weighs more, and the Rok's auto and traction control did not do it any favors either, while the Cruiser had a manual and a more heavy-duty drivetrain...

Remember , the Cruiser isa manual , the Amacroc is auto , zero skill needed in an automatic with drive modes and traction control , fact ! That aside , the Criuser driver did not know how to drive a manual 4x4 in that application . All " latest tech " 4x4s create drivers with zero skill , who know how to stamp on a pedal , thats all .

This is and always has been the biggest farce in the auto world. Even if you use 2 exact same vehicles, one will always outpull the other due to inconsistencies of sand. But even on a tar road, the results will be inconclusive due to drivers, and also on different vehicles : tyres, weight, turbo spool, gear ratios, etc etc. A great big waste of time, tyres and drivetrain components.

Yeah Nissan Patrol it top. The only reason most choose the landcruiser is parts are more available. But everything underneath the Patrol is tougher than a land cruiser. I know cruiser fan boys wont like this comment but its true. But! I must add, i am not saying a land cruiser is a shit 4x4, it is very very good! All i am saying is, Patrol is better. Even though I'd still take the Cruiser, longer life span 1000 times more reliable and the Amarock being a double cab it probably has more weight on the back tires than the Cruiser therefore it will have better grip, just my opinion 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think firstly that one can't compare two vechiles with different engine displacement, so if one has a 8 cylinder engine another a 4 cylinder engine how can one compare, both need to be same displacement and same feul type and same gearbox type and similar weight then it will be equal test

This all comes down to physics. It's more to do with the number of diff locks engaged and torque gearing, traction (tire size and pressure), weight and current velocity. And Less to do with car model or engine. Therefor you can design a car that will beat any other in this competition by ensuring it has dual difflocks, having large tyres with bead lockers and very low presssure, and is in low 4x4 gearing and has sandbags packed in the back for added weight.
