@mikldude93763 жыл бұрын
Is yours a manual or Auto ? my mates son has one , his is a manual and has found the manual gearbox to be problematic , he keeps blowing over drive . The problem i suspect is that even though you can chug along in over drive , They are really not designed or built for that , over drive is your weakest gear , and accelerating in overdrive from low speed puts a lot of load on it , particularly if towing , i think he does do a fair bit of towing .
@ron1martens3 жыл бұрын
mikldude you are correct. Mine is manual. I don't push my vehicle when I'm in overdrive. Going up rises I don't accelerate which means I'm slowing down whilst Country driving. These vehicle can chug along. When carrying a load anything can put a strain on all parts from suspension, brakes etc. I always take off at the lights very slow and cruise everywhere. You don't use as much fuel and the motor will love you for it. Including clutch, diff etc. Think about if you were racing. You constantly need to perform maintenance on the vehicle. Like using power tools. You push it and it will overheat. Well cars have antifreeze so that may not happen. I guess you know what I mean. You gotta be like Mr Magoo. Your car will last.

Neither are going to “fall to bits”. The tug if war is about which one has more power, but my above comment touches on which truck would tow a load for longest. It’s a mute point. You’d have to take both trucks beyond reasonable driving times and conditions till one of them finally over heated or popped a seal. Or drive them side by side for twenty years by twins and compare maintenance costs. Twenty tears from now we’d probably still be arguing over which is better!

All jokes aside,i am in Australia and drive a 1998 toyota hilux SR5,4x4 twin cab ute. I have driven only Hilux utes for 30 yrs now and in that whole time would not have spent a grand in repairs in total.My current hilux just gets fuel put in it.I wish i could say i maintain my vehicles,but i don't.It did give it an oil and oil filter and petrol filter change four years ago i guess.Wow,the years go quick.I needed some leads and plugs a couple of years ago too. Currently,my fuel gauge is wonky because i siphoned out fuel for the lawn mower and stuffed the float or something, so that's a pain.The clip is also broken on the fuel cap cover so need two people,one pulling the lever under the dash and one levering the cover open.One of the electric windows does not wind down either. In years previous to the Toyota Hilux i drove a Holden HG ute,a bloody rust bucket,and then an XB ford ute,where i probably spent more in door handles than any repairs on my Toyota Hilux...I am in self isolation due to this covid -19 virus,the reason for the long post.Nothing better to do......Stay safe out there guys..Cheers mates.

I have worked with the Hilux in a farm. Nothing stands its way, literally. It easily plowed a 3 month old sugar cane field when the single-laned dirt road was blocked by a big truck forcing me to ram the crops in order to get passed it. Take note, it was a stock Toyota Hilux 2.8 1GD-FTV, with nearly bald stock tires. Proven and tested. Verdict: The hilux is more capable than you think.

Le combat a été gagné par le Hilux. Quand on regarde bien les roues, on voit que le Ranger faisait trop d'efforts, et les roues tournaient trop. Par contre les roues du Hilux tournaient très peu, et donc le Hilux faisait moins d'efforts.
