This is a really good point. There’s not a lot of broke donkeys where I am so if I have to look out of state I’ll be sure to ask for videos of more than them just poking around a round pen. Thanks!

Definitely!! Especially coming from someone who buys them and flips them quickly.. and watch for what kind of tack is used.. harsh leverage bits and lots of spur use can indicate a donkey that isn’t really trained .. they are just trying to avoid pain 😢

As you can tell from this photo. I have some obstacles to overcome myself. But I have a Jennette that barefoot measures 2 " shy of Mammoth and I want to ride her on semi flat land to hunt coyote . Im disabled and dont have much trust in horses . First problem I'm overweight and dont know if I can get enough off to even use her in the first place ? I know if I can train her to a cart she can pull me, Im only 250 lbs and was average 200 back when I was healthy. I wonder if you could give me clues to determine if she is really up to the job in the first place . I know hooves need trimming and hers appear to be brittle in the over grown areas . But most donks I ever had did also . Anyway I have some issues with my legs that need addressed also before I address the issue of my knowledge of riding is very little and quarter horse specific .I have trained a Bay mare to let me ride it in a round pen . But that was when Degenerative disc disease really became an issue, but I know a typical quarter horse is a little to energetic for my health issues. Thanks in advance for any advice . Glad I stumbled on your channel

If she’s in good health, hoof and body, depending on her build she may be able to carry a rider your size.. especially if you could get your weight down some. The biggest thing is health and conditioning.. she will need to start slow and develop muscles .. hiking up hills , jumping can help with this too .. packing helps a lot. If you can’t do it maybe someone else could help??? I get offers from teens sometimes wanting to come work with my donkeys, do light farm chores in exchange for riding time and the experience. For most donkeys to have good hooves you got to stay on top of rasping and keeping the heels low. Most farriers leave them way to high and that causes all kinds of issues. Hope this was helpful

My donkey don't like people laughing... He thinks people's laughing at him...
