Doesn't have to be expensive. I use a Tetherd saddle, comfortable all day because you can alternate between several sitting, leaning or standing positions, a 30' pc of Sterling Oplux 8mm (serves as my tether, haul line and rappel line). 6mm eye to eye, tied in a felicitous hitch w carabiner allows one handed operation. Paid $250 for a "Sladder" for climbing and LOVE it, 1.5 lbs. Homemade triangular platform (1/2 "steel tube w Lonewolf buckle strap). Light, light, light. All fits in backpack w room for other gear and some clothing. I still have hang on stands and strap steps, but dont even bother with them anymore. The saddle system allows for greater mobility around the tree for 360 degree shooting.

Good and bad. Good for mobility; allows quick locational changes and also swinging around the tree for much more diverse positions to shoot from. Bad is that you can't last too long sitting in it. I tried the saddle style 10 years ago. Bought 2 of them from Bass Pro. I couldn't last more than 15 minutes before blood circulation in my legs/butt started cutting off and I would be fidgetting trying to open up the flow. Every long duration Mexican stare down I had with mature deers I would lose because of this. Personally I would not recommend it for an all day hunt. Even a half day sit is pushing it.

I run a cruzer xc and super comfortable. I set for 5 hours and could sit longer if I needed.

Your saddle was to small or needed a better adjustable saddle, mine is from tethrd nation, all day no issue. things are better now, but got your point is well taken and very real but now resolved, hip pinch is not a problem now
