I’ll have to give the saddle a try. I’m not a big fan of climbers, I’ve had the bottom drop off too many times. Thanks for the video!!

Thanks for watching Karl! I recall years back tying some parachord between the upper and lower sections to help. Good luck this season Bud

I use my saddle with my lone wolf climber base, I tried it and liked it enough that I cut about 5 inches off of it to lighten it up. The base now is 19.5 inches by about 24 inches and weighs only 8.5 pounds, and there is tons of room without the top section, and it is extremely solid on the tree. I can climb very fast in it and if I come to a branch I just remove the belt from 1 side and lift the base over it while hanging from my tether, I climb with a thirty foot tether as my main tether for climbing and rappel, but also have a five foot tether for getting around branches so I am always connected to the tree. When I'm done hunting I rappel down by rotating my tether 90 degrees and stepping off the side of my stand, rappel down 2 feet, unhook the climber belt from the tree, rehook the belt too the stand, put my arm through it and continue the rappel. My whole set up weighs less than ten pounds not including the saddle and consist of the base, a long tether that the tag end doubles as my bow and bag pullup, and a short tether for getting around branches even though most of the time I am able to choose trees with no low branches. You should try your saddle with your climber base, just use your saddle the way you would use the upper part of your stand and raise your tether with each move, if you don't rappel just repeat the process in reverse going down, just be sure to attach a tether between your stand base and saddle in the case lose the bottom of your stand and it falls down the tree.

Great video! Love my saddle, same setup you have only I have the phantom saddle. Have had it 4 years I believe. I do use a climber from time to time if I know I'm not going that far into the woods and it's not real thick. I did have to cut the little wire loops off of my rope man ascenders. The wire loops would get caught sometimes on the climbing sticks coming out of the tree and open the ascender.

I love my saddle and one thing that changed my life. Was a descender rope. It makes it 10 easier to get out and you're always connected. If I plan on hunting the same tree the next day Ill take my bottom two steps so no one takes them. Also I hunt a lot of state land and saddle is my method of hanging the stand and taking my steps. Then you don't have to worry about someone taking your stuff or hunting your spot when you're not there. Yes I use my saddle when hunting tree stands feel more safe get in and out.

Where did you get the straps for the hawke sticks ? Mine have buckles

I would recommend adding a rope to the climber to connect the bottom part to the top so if the bottom ever falls away on you, you aren’t stuck in the tree.

Try the Lean Ascent Climbing Platform and you get the best of both.

I love my summit viper Goliath, but it is heavy, noisy, and it really limits you on trees especially on public land. That being said I had a farm I used to hunt that had a lot of big strait trees. The pro to the summit was it is so comfortable I could do all day sits with no problem. I’m going to try going to a saddle this year because the climber is just not working on the public land and swamps I’m hunting more now.

Good video. That climber is like the one I have. Of course, I haven't used mine in years since we use ladder stands. The only time my climber comes out is when we are hanging feeders. As for saddles, I am too old now to even think about using a saddle setup. But I can see the benefit of using a saddle. I have watched Brian (bkbowhunter1) use his saddle when he is hunting. Just another tool to get out there and do what we like, bow hunting. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on them and using them. Juddie
