How beautiful. Raise your children with kindness and encouragement instead of useless competition. Having raised 3 I wish I knew this in the beginning as opposed to the end. Thank you Sadhguru. Will be sharing this with my adult children!

Ted, you have a second chance to practice this as a grandfather! Your grandchildren will love you for it, and your adult children will be taught by your powerful example. My adult daughter confronted me about something I had done years before. I had shushed her crying --- and she was shushing her little daughter. I asked her how she could ignore her daughter's crying, and she said, 'You told me to 'get over it' when I cried.' --- and so I replied, 'I was wrong...and when we learn we have made mistakes, we change. We do not have to continue to repeat mistakes.' She (my daughter) was still angry with me, but the following morning my granddaughter hugged me when I told her 'I get into trouble too, sometimes.' It is wonderful to be older and approach our children/ grandchildren with guidance, not punishment.

I am happy to hear this wisdom from Sadhguru: we GUIDE and REDIRECT our children -- correction is one thing....punishment is not a lesson, but the adult demonstrating ignorance. I didn't know having black and blue marks on my legs was unusual until a friend at school asked me what happened. At that moment I learned not all parents hit their children. It was a big revelation. At school, we learned to be a disciple means to be diciplined...to be taught. When my teacher told us the meaning, I learned the difference between guidance and punishment -- physical harm for its own sake teaches nothing worthwhile. A teacher was asked 'what should my child watch on TV?' and he replied, "It's not what they watch on TV, it's what you watch with them that matters.' He said watching a program with your children offers an opportunity to ask your child's thoughts about what they saw, and how they felt about it. Attending to children means paying attention to them.

Children still learn and theres healthiness and its ndcessary to lovingly correct if they are hurting or not establishing healthy routines and doing things detrimental/in excess. Everything has time and a place and context. The way it is done makes all the difference, children still need to know when it is safe to cross a road, etc. To be kept safe and learning to be self reliant Spirtually emotionally and mentally. Even God lovingly corrects all his children if they are needing it, no one is perfect!

You be good to people who are good to you. Sometimes strangers will treat you better than family, I do love my family always helping and giving....but....now at 60 I realized put yourself first, look after yourself, not to allow them to give you a nervous breakdown or lower your self esteem. B4 leaving write them a letter, be honest with your feelings. You must come first. Not to allow them to pull you down. Sometimes parents are old fashion very strict you can't be yourself around them, they living in a bubble. you can't relate or they want you to live for society and not for yourself. If your parents not willing to change or meet you half way most definitely keep your distance in a restful manner. Good luck may God continue to bless you.🌹

Teachers and parents that try to fix a child is the worst ego on the planet. They're saying they need to fix a child from what God created. Pervertedly trying to teach a child to be number 1=sickness. Society is messed up, not God's creation. We are not always happy with the society we are living in but are trying to fit our children into it. I f our children don't do it like us, it means the world will change...that is WONDERFUL! Children need inspiration, not correction. Teachers need correction.
