I’m a birth mom. I chose to place my son for adoption. I didn’t have means to raise my son. I didn’t want my son to have a bad place to live. So I chose to give him a better life than I had. The adopted parents I couldn’t ask for better parents to raise my son. I’m glad I chose adoption route. I chose an open adoption plan for my son. The adopted parents love me and my family and we get together for special occasions.

Now I’ve never placed a baby up for adoption but as a mom myself you did the right thing for your child and I hope your child knows now that you did it because you had their best interest in mind. And I’m glad that you have such a close relationship with his family that’s so sweet.

I’m an adoptive mom with a similar story with regards to God connecting me and his birth mom. When my son was about 10 my Facebook feed listed my son’s birth mother as “people you may know”. I knew her name from his adoption file. I wrote her and just prayed God would open the door in His time. When my son was 13 she found my message and wrote back. She had prayed since his birth that he was loved and in a Christian family. We shared tears over her tears of not knowing, shared pictures of our families and just grew as a bigger family.

This is the most beautiful story! Emily thank you so much for sharing your story! Emily, I was in your shoes making one bad mistake after another (I do not mean a child, a child is never a mistake) but I made a mess of my life and God never left my side until I surrendered my life to him at 35. I smiled so big when you said "your husband." God blessed me with the sweetest husband at 40 years old and then gave us a daughter at 41! I have an almost 25 year old child and I had made such a mess of his childhood BUT through God's redemption he is restoring that relationship and gave me another child and a husband. Thank you again for sharing!

This is an amazing story on many levels. My son is adopted from China and we doubt we will ever know his birth mother. I do pray for her often that God would give her peace that is okay, safe, and thriving. I say an extra prayer on the anniversary date he was found. I do believe that her abandonment was more out of love and trying to give my son a better life than out of harm. She gave my husband and I a wonderful God loving son.

I was adopted at four months old from Korea. I am forever thankful that my Birth Mama was brave enough to continue pregnancy and give me up for adoption as my life here in America is so much better as I have been able access healthcare, therapy, etc that I have needed to thrive both in terms of health but more importantly with my relationship with the Lord. To all the birth parents out there, know that the Lord is with you and has a hand on your children. Don’t lose hope or heart. Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans not to harm you but to prosper you. Plans to give you a hope and a future.”

Praise the Lord; for Jeremiah 29:11. This means so much to me as my daughter and her husband recently lost their first pregnancy of twins. They have been married for four years, trying to get pregnant. We’ve all prayed together and know that if cannot get pregnant soon, we are hoping the Lord would open someone’s heart to give them a baby like you and others have graciously been given by other Mothers. Thank you for sharing your precious story. Good bless you ❤✝️

Huge kudos to Emily for getting her life together, that's a heck of a lot of self-inflicted trauma to overcome. I'd love to know if Emily ever connected with the other child she gave up for adoption. Also, does Bob have a relationship with this sibling too, as well as the sister that was raised by her father? Perhaps an idea for another episode.

44:19 I chose adoption 35 years ago because like Emily I was not able to provide for my son and knew adoption would be best. Signing off my parental rights was the hardest thing I have ever done. My son found me in 2012, when the tornado happened in Joplin he told me that was his signal to find his birth mom. We haven’t spoken since then and that’s ok. I know he is loved and cherished by his parents. He understands why I chose to give him a chance in life to have opportunities I was not able to provide for him. I am forever grateful to his parents.

I'm 63 years old and three years ago I learned that I was as adopted. My parents neber told me I learned because of a DNA test. Yes it was a shock but I had the best parents in the world. I have learned who my birth mother was , i never got to meet her but I know her decision to put me up for adoption was the best thing she could have done. I know that not everyone who is adopted is as lucky as me, and maybe if I had know earlier I would have met my birth mother and it might not have gone well. Gods timing is perfect i found out when it was my time to find out and i have great half siblings and we get along great. I don't know why my birth mother gave me up but I choose to believe that she had my best interest at heart.

Wow! This beautiful story definitely has God all over it. I also put my Son up for adoption 21 years ago. It was a closed adoption.. through a Christian Agency. I have always prayed over him and hoped and prayed for Him to want to meet me one day. Can I please get some prayers that it will happen in Gods timing. I honestly have stuffed this journey way back in my heart and I don’t talk about it to anyone ever. Now that I have seen this story.. God has put it upon my heart to finally talk open and honest about it to someone who I trust that can help with positive reinforcement to help me heal. Thank you for listening to my story. I pray for that day like the Robertsons had to happen for me in Gods own way. ❤

I always liked Korie from watching Duck Dynasty but watching this clip shows what an amazing woman she truly is. I wish other women who share children wether they’re the birth, adoptive or step mom, would watch these 2 women and realize this is how mothers whatever the connection should interact with each other. There are children in the middle that will suffer the consequences because 2 adults don’t know how to act and respectfully interact with one another!!! Regardless of their paths in life, these 2 women have class, grace & love in their hearts because of how they treat each other. Great job ladies ♥️

Thank you for sharing your adoption journey. I pray our daughter’s birth mom will one day want to meet her. I would love to have a relationship with her too. She chose a closed adoption, had an emergency c-section and did not want to see her daughter because she asked to not know the sex of the baby. I know this is what she needed at the moment to start the grieving and healing process. Our daughter will be one in December so this is all still fresh for the birth mom.

Happened to watch this episode as it followed another church service I had just watched on KZbin - I am a 55 yr old single woman who divorced from my husband when I was 32 yrs old having not had any children of our own and since then have remained without children - not having an unwanted pregnancy or troubled teenage years. However, my empathetic heart simply cried tears of both joy, sadness and awe at how good our God is to his beloved children. Thanks for your discussion on being transparent with our family & loved ones so we know that whatever circumstance we may find ourselves - we are not alone. Beautiful friendship story of two praying mothers who love their children as God loves each of us. What I appreciate most about the Robertson family and the remarkable people in their lives - they are bold in their faith and their commitment to loving God and loving one another. God Bless you both, Will & Abby and both of your families.

I'm a birth mom. She turned 27 in May. Hardest decision I've ever made in my life. I never regret it, but do feel terrible guilt that I was in a place in my life where it was my only option. I get so unfair judged for what I did. I never gave her up, she's always been in my heart. We met when she was 16 and have a relationship now. She has a daughter of her own now.

I think you are an amazing woman for wanting your child to have the best knowing at the time you was not the best option!! It’s hard to make such a choice, I respect you for not being selfish and thinking about your child’s wellbeing instead of your own! God done well by placing him with Willie and Kori
