Agreed. I have a gravel bike, but would way rather ride my mountain bike on the side of a mountain. Gravel bikes are designed for putting down power and speed on gravel roads. This is a great example of the evolution of suspension. Back in the old days, you had solid axle cars, then solid axle leaf sprung cars and then shock absorbers and coil springs. If you watch all 3 of these types of suspension systems work, over various on and off road testing, you'll see quite quickly the advantage of suspension. Ive been wanting a gravel bike for a little while, but when I see things like this I think, man a hard tail with a lockout on the front would give you the strongest versatility on and off road... Love the versatility. Commuting on the weekdays with more capacity for fun shortcuts. The tactile nature of riding mountain bike trails on a rigid bike. The capacity to tour on it.
