Most popular reason why people remove the plug is because if you’re out In the sand, mud, snow and any of those things found their way into the holster while let’s say laying down to fire and it gets packed up with that excess the gun will not be able to seat properly when you reholster your weapon. To avoid all that it’s best to remove it so as crap falls in and as you get up it’s falls out or your gun will push that excess through as you reholster.

I have quit a few of the 6000 series and they've always been great. I recently picked up a 7000 series for the SIG M17 with the LMD. It will also work with the Streamlight TLR7,& TLR7 A. It works fine so far, but I favor the 6000 series. The 6000 just seems easier to fix if something broke than the 7000. Hopefully,the 7000 will hold up, but only time will tell.

I love the 6000 series, HOWEVER, with my p320s I can pull the trigger of some variants while it is holstered. I cannot do this in the 7000 series. Also the 6000s do wear out badly. My local SO kept their 6000s well past their service life. They only got new holsters when one of the deputies got shot by his HOLSTERED m&p when he was fighting for it with a suspect. They replaced them with 7000s which are dramatically tighter around the trigger. The 6000 is definitely the cooler and more feature packed option but in my recent experience the 7000 are slightly “safer”. The state hasn’t had problems with their 6000s but they use Glocks and switch models before their holsters have the chance wear out 🙄. Bottom line is I would recommend everyone civilian or LE to test out both with the model gun that they use before making a choice.

Im so confused. So you made an amazing holster the 6000 and then decided to make a new holster remove the amazing parts and call it the 7000?
@jeffroalpha700
@jeffroalpha700 8 ай бұрын
I honestly believe the main reason they developed the 7000 series was for the military contract. The suede lining can get waterlogged. The 7000 is also lighter. I’ve run both and still love my 6360 the best for duty use. It seems a little less noisy as well. When I first started in LE in 2004, I was issued a 6280. Still have that thing as well, and there is nothing wrong with it. The 6360, is definitely lighter in the STX than the older 6280 in Safarilaminate. It is a pretty noticeable difference.

In the exact same boat. Just got the cz p-10 f optic ready threaded barrel and was looking for a safariland holster for it. Going by the vid I would need a 6000 series instead of the recommended 7000 series for the threaded barrel

Have both but prefer the 6000 series. Only reason I purchased the 7000 was because the 6000 series would not accommodate the P320 X5 Legion w/o modification. Should have just taken out the plug in a 6 series.

@@sirlost94 This was from a year ago. Yes, the barrel was too long. Would assume that’s still the case. Nothing removing the llug and maybe a little heat gun can’t fix.

6000 series much stronger made holster & way to go. More expensive to produce though. The 7000 series has some weak points where folded. Search Lawrenceville Police holster incident.

@@datboi__it’s pretty vague. Officers just attended a funeral of one of their own, some cop took off their belt and the and their gun “fell out of the holster”. The gun discharged when they tried to catch it. Sounds fishy. I’ve run all kinds of Safariland holsters for 17+ years Never had one “fall out.” Sounds like operator error to me. I do prefer the build of the 6000 series, but leave no doubt the 7000 does a much better job at protecting the trigger guard.
@datboi__
@datboi__ Жыл бұрын
@@meschker0507 I agree. Never had an issue once and I own 4 of their 6xxx series and one of their 7xxx series holsters. I can't see how the locking mechanism would ever fail although I have seen pictures of the 7xxx failing structurally. But that was from actual usage not just taking a gun belt off
