It would be interesting to see how it does against 5.7x28 as it was designed to defeat soft armor like this. The backforce deformation issue is a roll of the dice. Common handgun calibers shouldn’t be an problem with the exception of 44 Mag and up. 357’s and down shouldn’t push in too deep but might still break ribs. It looks really comfortable, until you get shot.

IIa will stop a 9mm the same as IIIa, but with more bfd. It may only be a broke rib vs a 4inch bruise, but there _will_ be a difference. N FL War Room, the number you are looking for is in the Tech Specs towards the beginning of the video. 38mm bfd with the 44mag. I believe that 44mm is a fail under NIJ testing. And I totally agree. Would love to see a better backstop used in these videos. Panel leaning on a cardboard box still allows the fibers or poly a couple extra inches of travel to slow and disperse the energy. I bet the .460 would have blown thru if it were taped to a block of clay.

What level 4 armor would you recommend for placing in backpack for school that is affordable but good quality?
@kenofken9458
@kenofken9458 Жыл бұрын
RMA is good and reasonable IMO. The problem with Level IV is that it's damn heavy at 8 plus pounds. That's a lot for smaller children especially on top of the other stuff they pack. That plate alone maxes out or approaches the limit for the healthy weight allowance for an 80-pound kid. The other problem with ceramic plates and kids is their habit of throwing their backpack on the ground carelessly. Now ceramic plates are nowhere near as delicate as some people make them out to be, but repeated drops on hard tile or concrete is not cool and sooner or later will compromise the plate's integrity. Personally if I were to get rifle plates for a kid's pack, I'd go with UHMWPE. Around 3 pounds a plate, very durable. The tradeoff is that they aren't the best at stopping green tip 5.56, but I don't know that a lot of school shooters go to that length, and really the chance of being able to maneuver a backpack in such a crisis is kinda iffy anyway. To my mind, imperfect protection that you can actually carry consistently is better than a heavy brick you leave at home after day two of carrying the bastard around.

If it's NIJ rated, it has to pass the same backface deformation standard as normal thickness armor. The .460 may well have produced serious to possibly lethal BFT, but IIIA is simply not rated for that. Then again, you're also more likely to win a mega millions lottery than to get shot by one of those unless you go out of your way to provoke a confrontation with someone you know has one. So. . . .if you can somehow test Crye LVS concealable armor or more concealable armor in general, I have not really heard or seen anything on it. It is like searching for unicorn 🦄 mythril armor with no proof to stake there claims.

Mike, Illinois is going to try and ban this stuff, I'm buying before they do, just for use at the range. I assume you say thumbs up, and that's good enough for me. Thanks, will use your link unless I can find a deeper discount. I'm old and on a budget. Hope you're well buddy.Edit to add, if it passes, we will be grandfathered, as long as we owned it prior to it becoming law. Then, we have to file with the State Police at the 6 month mar notifying them that we own it. LOL, why I still live in Illinois is beyond me. It's quickly becoming the ugly, cold version of Cali. Sad times

This is an ideal design for states with body armor bans. It's the only kind you can actually wear and you'll never get busted as long as you don't start shit that brings LE involvement.
