I will give you a short information about them. Jung-hwa is 52 years old this year, Hyo is 42 years old this year. And they are the legendary female singer whom all Koreans know. This Refund-Sisters is very meaningful to them. Because these four women have still pioneered their own path in Korea and are still making. Also, Jung-hwa had thyroid cancer so she couldn't sing for a while (but now as an actor she is also very good actor.) Since she still loved music and had passion about music so much, this is so precious to her. She was Idol to the rest of the others, as a respecting colleague, this activity was truly impressive. And as you can see they are amazing! I really love them. They are iconic.. I love your reaction. I'm a Korean and my english is not perfect but i was want to help you so I writed this comment haha hope u understand what I'm saying!

Hyori is actually a really iconic kpop idol as she was a 1st generation kpop idol along with Junghwa who every kpop idol looks up to due to her unique and mesmerizing voice. Junghwa actually suffered from a throat cancer that made her left vocal chord paralyzed so this may be her last time being able to sing on stage which I hope is not true.(she is ok and healthy now and her voice is very good now but it was even more phenomenal back then)

Actually Junghwa is the 1st kpop diva from the 90's. She invented the whole kpop female solo artist style. Other female artists, even Lee Hyori, copied JungHaw's style through out the years.

The genesis of this was an off the cuff remark by Hyori while auditioning songs for SSAK 3, a summer project on the show There was a song that was suited for a girl group, and she said that she would keep it for her own project. When asked by the other members who will she want in that group, Hyori named the other 3. Um Junghwa (b. 1969) (debuted 1993) - 2 years before Hwasa was born Lee Hyori (b. 1979) (debuted 1998 with Fin KL - a girl group) Jessie (b. 1988) (debuted 2005) Hwasa (b. 1995) (debut 2014) These ladies represent women in their 20's, 30's, 40's & 50's You are so right in saying that is an iconic moment in Kpop history.

The group formed when Lee Hyori said she wanna form a girl group with Jessi, Hwasa, and Uhm Junghwa in a variety show. All of them are having strong and fierce image in Korea. As one of most influential stars in Korea, her ideas received big support from public and the three members also responded in social media that they are happy to join. So the group was formed in the same variety show mentioned.

Uhm Jungwha is known by every korean as iether 'the Korean Madonna' or 'the national diva' she's more known as a female solo icon then a kpop icon. Hyori a kpop icon as she was a 1gen idol. Jungwha started about 10 yrs before such a thing as kpop excisted

If you saw Nu nu na na Hyori was in that too. She was the girl doing all the dancing in the beginning with the bandana. You could see her in beginning, in the slow down and at the end with Jessi. She is a legend. As is Junghwa. Though admittedly I also did not know her until this video. I also had to do some research and watch some things that she was in. She is definitely worth a search.

Lee Hyori (she has the half and half hair) was on the previous season (?) of the show (which made the temporary group SSAK3). There she jokingly mentioned wanting to form a girl group with herself, Uhm Junghwa, Jessi and Hwasa. Everyone ended up being on-board for the idea - and hence Refund Sisters came to be. If you have the time, I'd definitely recommend checking out the show (Called "How Do Yo Play"). It shows them having some really meaningful and wholesome interactions as well as how the whole song came to be. I'm not fully caught up myself but I've been loving it so far!

If you're interested, the show this group was formed in is called Hangout with Yoo (it's a show hosted by Yoo Jae Suk, and SSAK3 was formed in the show as well). The Refund Sisters are on starting from episode 56, all the way to episode 69 :)

fun fact, Lee Hyo Ri (the one who wears yellow) is the only person in Korea that wins Daesang (End Year Award) for Best Singer of the year and Best Entertainer of the year (no other singer have ever win for the best entertainer and no other entertainer have ever won the best singer). she also the only singer in Korea who ever win a weekly award (toping the chart) in 4 eras, in 90', 00', 10', 20' era.

They are legends on their own ways. Uhm Jung Hwa in her 50s Lee Hyori in her 40s Jessi in her 30s Hwasa in her 20s All of them have a very strong image which is not the typical image for most of the girl groups in South Korea. I would say that, this is a legendary collaboration! This song also achieved a PERFECT all kill on all music charts in South Korea upon the released.

She is possibly the only one who won Daesang for both music and entertainment categories (I do not remember any one else winning both).
