Issue with Nominations, especially with Banks, Mutual Funds is that they do not collect complete identification details of nominee which therefore exposes the nominee to unnecessary, undue red tape & painful hassles... Any suggestions. Thanks & Regards

Agree, but there are reforms happening here. Until then better to atleast do the bear minimum and definitely write a Will as nominee is not a legal heir.

Not at all. Probate is mandatory only in Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata

Some Banks insist on a succession certificate even in the case of nomination. Are they right

Yes, because the nominee is only a trustee and not a heir.

While they shouldn't but if the values involved are high they can insist to just ensure no one tomorrow files a suit against the bank. That said, you can showcase the RBI circular to push the bank to transfer the assets to nominee.
