Safely upgrade Manjaro KDE to KDE 6

This video shows how to upgrade Manjaro from KDE 5 to KDE 6 safely and easily.
KDE 6 just landed in the standard repos for Manjaro.
you should be running some kind of fail safe recovery like timeshift or snapper rollback, and having saved all important files before proceeding just in case.

Beware of the polkit-kde-agent bug. GUI apps that ask for passwords can fail to authenticate. Things like Pamac, ksyslog, etc. It's claimed to be fixed in package version 6.0.5, currently Manjaro is using 6.0.4-1. this effects all Distros and Desktops that use the polkit-kde-agent package version 6.0.4. Arch Manjaro, KDE Neon. etc. It's bug 485407 in the KDE bug tracker. Just FYI. Might want to wait for the updated package before upgrading.

hmm don't know - I think it's safer to log out of your KDE session, switch to TTY and stop sddm too (sudo systemctl stop ssdm) - this way no KDE related shared libs should be in use any more - and maybe remove all widgets first (you probably had no changes to the default settings there)

Safer? Definitely. Necessary? I'm not so sure. I've done big de system upgrades this way for decades and haven't had it fail on me yet. In theory, even if your gui tty fails, the current tty should keep doing it's thing.
