Seems backwards to use an external pump when you literally have an efi tank. Plenty of companies offer hangers that mount much larger pumps that can support the fuel needs of that engine.

These cars had 2 pumps, from the factory. One in the tank, one on the rail. It was a very common thing ford did in that era.

@@metalted6128 thanks bud i have a foxbody myself with the same flow rated pump in the tank. Efi Fuel pumps are meant to pump fuel, not suck it from the tank 2-3 feet away. Most external efi pumps are gravity fed via a sump, which this car does not have.

@@mikeadams42 no they do not. They have one pump in the tank. Back in the day you could add a secondary inline pump before very high flow pumps were availible. I have a 90 LX that was 100% stock when i got it, and several friends with the same cars and only one pump in the tank

@@coupestanger90that’s odd, the 80’s thunderbirds were based on the fox body platform. My ‘83 turbo coupe had 2 pumps, my mom’s old V8 thunderbird had 2 pumps. My old 1992 lx had 2 pumps,also my old 91 f250 had 1 per tank and the rail.

I was thinking the same thing when they struggled with the fuel tank. It didn't seem to fit right. Not sure about these hosts.

Nah, that clip was only made to sell you the expensive Platinum battery. They went back in with a smaller more affordable Walmart Everstart .
