I taught safety/FA/CPR for my local union. The biggest compliment I received was when I was working at a job. I had two apprentices working with me. We had some large heavy loads to hoist several hundred feet inside a building then move them overhead (through a congested area). This involved transferring the load between several hoists to get them where they needed to go. The kids (?) were all gung-ho and wanted to hurry and start rigging them. They were miffed when I stopped them, and wanted to know why. I told them we were going to first walk the area that we had to move the loads through. This way if something needs to be moved, we do it without having a suspended load in the way. We also plan where and how we're going to transfer the loads from one hoist to the next. The one apprentice said, "Wow, you don't only teach it, you do it!" I explained that doing it my way (the right way) makes the job easier, safer and there are no bad surprises. That job was completed without a hitch.
