Safety covers for socket outlets Are they safe ? Why not to use a plug socket covers in the UK

Yes, you are right, I had not realised this. It does look like a plastic toy to a child, and they would fiddle with it, easily take it out and then re insert it the wrong way exposing the live terminals, exactly as you suggest. These should be outlawed because of this reason, which has only been noticed by you, so well done! best wishes from Alan, in England.

Nursery schools in the UK don't have to use those anymore! They were de-registered a couple of years ago!

I would also suggest that those which use the upper pin connection to hold them in place are stressing the earth pin connection spring. If that spring becomes slack the earth connection will become higher restistance and the appliance earthing might be reduced.

The Worst part is that to a child they look like toys.. and they can easily be put in upside-down opening the shutters and then snapping off with the pin still in the earth slot keeping the shutters stuck open

if someone still wasn't convinced that the sockets are perfectly safe, then they could get a childproof cover to install over the entire outlet, which also covers up any plugs that might be inserted into the outlet

Unfortunately that doesn't work with any country that use 2 holes socket Since the cover for these 2 holes are only prevent water and unnecessary electric shock by touching bare hand, they do not work with the fork or pen But honestly I really feel that that kind of socket should be used worldwide, yet they don't

This type of cover is not designed perfectly, the neutral and live legs should be very small compared to the earth.

No offense but this is the most ridiculous reasoning ever. The babies are attracted to anything different from the wall even a little crack on the wall the want to play with. They want to play with the rectangular outlet if it has no plugs hahahahahahaa. Put the safety cap then some duct tape. Hahahhaha.
