I remember this like it was yesterday. I was watching it in the BYU football locker room my freshman year and it hit me like a ton of bricks as I was going to differ the next 2 seasons to serve a mission. Best choice I ever made after this talk. 💯 Let it be known. Elder Jeffrey R. Holland is the last of a dying breed of lions who speak from the pulpit. I too give my witness of the truth and divinity of the Book of Mormon and the Prophet Joseph Smith and I'll defend my testimony till the death of me. 💯⚔🛡🩸

I recall the exact location where I was sitting when I first heard this talk many years ago in a small church in the Philippines. Powerful, with honest faith, the Holy Ghost will bring the truthfulness to the hearts of all people. Until that day where every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is the Christ.

Megan Reichmann Powerful testimony of what??" Jesus or a {supposedly} inspired book? All I heard was when he comes to the judgment seat of Christ he wants to be known that the book of Mormon is true~~ Id THINK when we stand before Christ we d have a few other things in mind , like am I right with Jesus , not some book!

I understand your confusion. I admire your goal and desire to be right with God and Jesus Christ when you stand before them. I have that same desire and goal. So does Elder Holland. Let me try to clear up some confusion. I hope I can explain this well. If you look on the cover of The Book of Mormon, you will see right below the title, a subtitle. The subtitle says: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. We believe and know that along with the Holy Bible, The Book of Mormon is a book of instructions on how we can live our life so that one day we may stand before Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and know that we are right with them. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. By saying that we have a testimony of the Book of Mormon, it is also saying that we have a testimony of Jesus Christ. I hoped that maybe that answered some questions for you. It sounds like you too are trying to do the best you can, so that you can stand before God and Jesus Christ and know that you are right with them. I admire your obvious strong desire and testimony of that goal. If you have any more questions about this, or anything else really, click on this link below. There will be people that will be able to answer questions and explain things much better than I could. Good luck and great question! :) www.mormon.org/chat

When i stand before God i wsnt Him to know i know that the bom is false,someone def hafds fun time writing it...If it was another testament or testimony of Jesus it wouldn't contradict the Bible. One time in a sunday school a couple weeks ago i musta heard the teacher say 5 or 6 times i know that this church is true! Good way to convince himself or his hearers,brainwash um~~ whatever... Robert Ray Well, instead of trying to prove him and millions others that they are wrong, you could just read it and pray about it. Do it seriously, don't be biased, and don't go in with any preconceived notions about the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. Just read it and pray about it. I didn't know that it was true, along with the church, until I decided to try myself. You can do whatever you want, but if you really want to know what is true, instead of pointing fingers, then try it out yourself. If you do read it and you still thinks it's false, then by all means go ahead and tear down others. But until you've done that for yourself, you have no right to tell others what is true and what is false. Just read it and pray about it. And really try. It takes time, it's not a five minute effort, but you will know about the truth of the Book of Mormon if you put in the time to know. God wants us to try somewhat; why would he give us an answer about something so sacred if we didn't do anything to show Him that we really want to know. Don't misunderstand--I'm not angry with you and I'm not trying to tear you down. I hope that you will respect others whose beliefs are different than yours the same way. Just read it and pray honestly about it. That's all we've ever asked.

Ive studied with missionaries prolly like 30 times or more. They/ you believe that the dead ARENT REALLY dead; the Bible says otherwise ( Ecc 9:5,6;John 11:11-14,Psalms 13:3) Nephi dude seems to make sucha big deal bout the commandments n keeping them. And the whole Mormon church is based on we try hard to keep the commandments.Butthen like all major Christian denominations you say ahh but the 4th commandment isnt that important; we don't hafta obey that one :) Whatd Elder Perry say? "We must not pick and choose which commandments we think are important to keep but acknowledge ALL of Gods commandments. We must stand firm and stedfast havihg perfect confidence in the Lord's consistency and perfect trust in His promises. " sunday the eighth or first day,whatever mormons wanna call it is NOT the Sabbath Missionaries even told me there is no Scriptual evidence for the change in days ..isnt that we want/ desire /need ~~ a plain Thus saith the Lord??! herssy lopez Hershey Martinez

I have attended million dollar sales and marketing meetings, listened to some of the worlds most influencial motivational speakers, and nothing comes close to the core shattering testimony of this man. It is not so much his words, but the spiritual power behind his words. The conviction behind his testimony is not of this world, nor does it come from man. If your soul was rocked by this talk, then you are on a higher level. If you felt nothing, then you are deaf to hear the Spirit of God, and I invite you to repent and come back to the light. Then listen to this talk again, and receive the blessings these men of God are giving to those who are hungry for the Gospel.

Very powerful talk! It IS true, this book, the Book Of Mormon. I understand that I can throw it away or live by the principles that come through it and the leaders of the church all the way down to my bishop. I truthfully agree to what has been said in this talk and bear MY testimony of the truthfulness of the book. No, it isn't wrong because I know through the Spirit of God, because I prayed about it in the first place and looked at it myself, and didn't have a challenge with it in the first place because I didn't listen to anyone about this book not being a true history, or not, I looked at this book and how it came forward and studied it and prayed and lived it and it took a bit of time and I then understood that the book was true. That is the key, don't judge the book, the person that brought it forth, or how everything was done, this book is true, the church is true AND that knowledge can be attained by ANYONE that does the same thing. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Thank you elder Holland. As has been affirmed by God Himself, "whether by my voice or the voice of my servants, it is the same." Your unwavering testimony like the unwavering testimony of Elder Uchtdorf is always supercharged with that undeniable truth. It is rightful that the testimony of other of God's servants be referenced but your testimony is the very word of God. It is conclusive evidence of the truth incorporated therin without further attribution.

The thing is, every answer to any question man has is already in the scriptures waiting for them. No one has yet been able to disprove the Book of Mormon... they quote scriptures which we have RECORD of being altered by Kings to only include what they want it to include. I will never understand why someone would reject another testament which the sole purpose of is to support that Christ lives, and we can be saved through His grace. Miracles did not cease when Christ died..nor did revelation.

In the New Testament, we can appreciate that Jesus Christ is HE who should say... "¶Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." but giving us "REST" doesn't mean we have nothing left to do. Being an example, a light on a hill as "Lights unto the world" requires effort. The Apostle Paul clarifies this later on and in addition to this, we read: "Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief." Hebrews 4:11

A hard paradigm to break? Reminds me of the story I heard in Conference once, I think... about the death of a loved one. Where the family who knew the deceased had stories about their loved one but once presented additional stories about the man they once supposed that they knew was not readily accepted. The man who they thought they knew had gone and experienced life and made additional friends and those friends returned to share their testimony. God alone knows why their stories are shunned.
@carmenjones8608
@carmenjones8608 4 жыл бұрын
I've noticed that people seem super uncomfortable when hearing evidence that we live as ourselves after death, so their experience of having their stories shunned is totally normal. It's like "there are things we don't know yet" means "we are not really allowed to know everything." I'd like to refer these people to the story of Joseph Smith's First Vision.

The statement , " I am a Mormon. " Is the very definition of your man made religion . Myself , I am a Christian . The LDS church is so lost . It is a very young church. My hope for Mormon's is they will listen and convert to Christianity. The head of the church is Jesus .GOD the SON . As a Christian I worship GOD eternal . One GOD, the only GOD . You have been blinded by a dead man . Only GOD can open your eyes . I honestly feel sorry for the LDS church. The people are beautiful . GOD loves his lost people and you are truly lost .

We're actually encouraged to say the full name of our church- The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints for this reason. So you have a point--we don't mean to sound like our church is the church of Mormon; we believe it is the church of Christ.

I guess feeling sorry for our church is better than nothing. If you don't believe in the LDS church then believe in Christ, and if you can believe in Christ then you can believe in the LDS church because it is His church. If your comment was uniquely placed here because you watched this talk (as opposed to shotgunning this comment on any and all LDS KZbin videos) then I encourage you to rewatch this talk with no reservations and with an open heart, just as you'd hope for any of us to do the same. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ, who is at the head of our church; I suppose your comment regarding Jesus being at the head of the church is where we both agree. The Christian faiths are beautiful and full of love, and I'm glad we agree on that too.

I am a Christian and I'm a Mormon. Christ is the Son of God the Eternal Father. God sent His son to bring us great gifts, among them repentance and redemption. Mormons pray to God the Eternal Father. I invite you to further understand 'mormons' and your statement above can then be based on facts, not hearsay.

Sometimes I think that critics of the Book of Mormon have such reckless reporting about the LDS church that the bastardized opinions get even more jumbled up until they no longer make any sense. Perhaps you refer to a statement made by a historian who wrote about Joseph Smith nearly 40 years after his death whose opinion about the prophet may seem like "him boasting" but it was never the opinion of the man but I digress. Who wrote the Book of Mormon? His name was Mormon.

GOOD WORKS IS THE FRUIT produced by the Holy Spirit enabling us to work together with Him. Colossians1:26-29. Paul speaks of a mystery hidden from ages and generations revealed now to His saints, which is Christ in You, the hope of glory. Christ's spirit works through us enabling us to labor for Him. The flesh cannot do this; so why do you put your people back under the yolk of the works of the Law which cannot save you. Jesus Christ saves sinners, of whom I am Chief, Paul said and I am also.

I'm so thankful that I dont belong to this church anymore. I'm thankful to Jesus Christ for leading me out of this false belief system and into a saving relationship with Him. Elder Holland mentioned that those who leave will need to crawl over and under and around the Book of Mormon to do it. I will gladly do that every if necessary.
