"nobody can shop that much"! Oh how I love this man and the gifts he has with words and abilities to interpret and expound the scriptures to be relatable to each of us. Dotted with humour and liberally sprinkled with encouragement! We must not listen to our inner critic, we just must try our best.

This man is close to perfect! He is so close to being like Jesus, and I feel that his words make me believe that I can improve every day. I love Elder Jeffrey R. Holland. I love his talks. Every one of them seems to be directed to me. And now that he has lost he beloved wife, and he's in the hospital, I'm aware that Heavenly Father could very well feel it is time for Elder Holland to come home. While I understand he has earned that privilege to join his wife, I selfishly don't want to lose him. I keep all of his talks because every word he says is important to me and to others. There are some talks that make me cry every time I hear them. Elder Holland makes me feel that I can be better. His telling me to never quit, to keep going, keeps me motivated. I love Elder Jeffrey R. Holland!

This mesaage helped me so much this morning. I literally bully myself everytime I sin or even when I don't sin. That causes doubt, fear, anxiety, and eventually depression. This message soothed my mind and heart, and all those things left my mind. I finally feel relaxed. I wish i waired before sinning because i know God had me run across this message. He helps us even when we feel like we arent worthy.

This is so tough! Although, I love Jeffrey R Holland, and will back EVERYTHING he says and believe it too. Yet, putting this all into practice seems so daunting. I need to listen over and over! What I do know is to try to do better each day and if I fall get back up and do better the next day and always be on the path of improvement. I want to do better than that, to be perfect.

I’m a new convert. Just a one year old toddler Latter Day Saint. I have understood many mysteries of God and now better understand this conundrum of our faith much better. Like Paul who said, those things I should do I do not and those things I shouldn’t do I do. We are human but we have an Atonement that is very powerful. I am progressing. I am thankful!

The judges on American Idol always loved saying that their favorites could "sing the phone book" and they'd love it. Well, Elder Holland could probably go up on stage and read the phone book and I'd love it, but not only does he deliver his message so well, but it always seems to be what I needed to hear. He loves to give the message of comfort to the weak, and that is certainly me.

I needed this talk tonight. Elder Holland always gives such a great talk. I am a very imperfect convert going on 20 years. I am the only member in my family. It's tough. I feel I must prepare for battle everyday just to hold on. This talk was so helpful and inspiring and what I needed to hear and reflect upon. Thank you so much Elder Holland. The church is true. We have a living prophet and apostles on the earth in our day just like the days of Noah, Adam, and Abraham. The heavens are open and God lives. Jesus Christ is my Savior. He invites to come unto Him.

WOW!!! Are we NOT led by men called of God to teach His words!!! The entire world including myself will only gain peace, joy, understanding, revelation by the holy ghost to live our very best, I never use the word perfection because to me it is not humanely obtainable and we are not asked to be perfect in this life...... we are to seek & love and act as the Saviour did and with His help( repentance and the atonement) and in the next life become perfected as He is! Beautifully said thank you brother Holland for praying and listening to what the Lord wanted to tell all his children!!!! So amazing!!!!!!!!

The meaning is this. When we die in order to be in the presence of God you must be perfect with no sin no blemishes. That's it, The only way u can be perfect is through the blood of his son Jesus. Once you accept his son as Lord and savior u become perfect. Jesus said the will of God is that you believe in the one he sent. The bible is a spiritual book, the living bible. The Holy spirit will reveal all the scriptures meaning. God bless

"Be Ye therefore Perfect, even as your H. Father in Heaven is." A verse the IDS take to mean they need to earn their way. I know he says you won't earn it but the 3 degrees of glory plan is an earned system. But what does it really mean? "That we may present every man PERFECT IN JESUS CHRIST." Colossians 1:28 How does one become Perfect? Through Christ. It is his redeeming blood that gives us a remission of sins so that we are not condemned. . "There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ." Romans 8:1 Surrender your life to Christ and let him transform you and he will make you HIS righteousness. God is the Potter and you are the Pot. Let him make you what he wants you to be and stop trying to earn your way. "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him." 2 Corinthians 5

I love how he dishes out tough love! Oh, and speaking of love, I LOVE this quote from Brigham Young: "Some classes of the human family... are black, uncouth, uncomely, disagreeable and low in their habits, wild, and seemingly deprived of all the blessings of the intelligence that is generally bestowed upon mankind. The first man who committed the odious crime of killing one of his brethren will be cursed... the Lord put a mark upon Cain, which is the flat nose and black skin." THE CHURCH IS TRUE!
@isabelladowney64114 жыл бұрын

He's not saying these things to make church members feel better about their own (relatively minor) personal weaknesses and imperfections. He's saying it to help the members feel better about the (much more significant) words and actions of church leaders who have led the church astray and caused members to question their testimony. Over 50,000 people resign from the church every year over major concerns, such as the church's policies on race, gender equality, treatment of LGBT people and their children, lack of financial transparency, problems with church history that the church has suppressed, problems with the book of mormon, the book of abraham, etc. These are major problems that cannot be simply overlooked as minor human foibles, because they go to the heart of the church's truth claims.
