Maybe HD tried to save money by limiting fork lift drivers. 😄 I know that for insurane reasons, you cant operate a forklift unless the employee has current certification and is insured for it by the company. You cant just have any employee do it, even if they have 20 yrs experience prior or a championship ring from the fork lifting superbowl of the Galaxy.
@steved21362 жыл бұрын
@@SoCalKevin A lot of it is for the very good reason that a forklift is a bloody dangerous beast- it isn't 'just like driving a car' and having seen in person a guy getting seriously injured by an incompetent (and unlicenced) forklift driver that left him unable to work for months afterwards, its understandable that any company will want their operators to have a level of competency guaranteed by a certain minimum level of training provided by requiring certification...
@SoCalKevin2 жыл бұрын
@@steved2136 yup totally agree with you Steve! A forklift weighs more than a car and can do serious damage with itself and/or it’s load. Plenty of accident vids here on KZbin, even within Home Depot. One year I was certified to operate a forklift as a small part of my job at a company I worked for briefly. Thought it was a pretty fun job playing forklift Tetris, but it’s definitely not something you want to do without the proper training. Use a spotter whenever possible and it will help avoid most issues, but like you said, the competency level is crucial. My fork lift instructor even said you’d be surprised at how many people fail to get certified due to lack of common sense. Watching Mike man the Mosfit is one of the things I enjoy about this channel.

All too common- what they don't think of is that by holding you up for an hour (or two, or three, or four)- EVERY SINGLE DELIVERY after them is held up by that long- I can bet if they wanted you there at 8am- and you decided to roll in at midday- they would be screaming blue bloody murder (as we aussies say)- yet they are quite happy to cause exactly THAT to anyone after them... I been in the delivery game since the early 90's- and I ended up very quickly- if it isn't ready- then call me tomorrow when it bloody well IS ready... you knew exactly WHEN i was coming... The same ones that are ALWAYS 'just a few minutes more' when waiting for a load- notice how if it was 'supposed to be there at 10am' at 10.00.05am, they are already on the bloody phone screaming 'wheres my delivery'??? Any business that starts pulling this BS- I automatically doubled their prices for any future delivery...- if they didn't like the price they can try and find someone else (LOL- truckers talk to each other you know...) So you 'may' lose a customer by doing this- better than losing a dozen others because you are 'always late' Not to mention the abuse the driver cops because his deliveries are always 'late'- been there, done that- too old and grumpy to put up with BS from the consignees- or the consigners... F..K em all... Be nice to your driver- or hire your own bloody driver...

I work at HD now actually and I’m so glad that my store is now near this bad as this location. This store seems like everyone there is unorganized and just don’t care. While I personally don’t drive the forklift yet, I can say for a fact that we never keep this much product outside and that our management encourages everyone to be able to drive almost all lift equipment. We are still I think the busiest store in my area and we stay 1000% cleaner than here. If this is what a majority of the stores are like, I definitely don’t want to change locations

I worked for HD for 6 years and still deal with them for work. I can’t tell you how many stores I have been into. Its most stores, 50% look clean but aren’t and 10% are actually good stores. The store I used to work in was one of the best in country, till that management team got broken up to fix other stores. That was 15 years ago and I will not shop in that store nowadays.

As for the decking not being ready, We were supposed to have all deliveries ready by 10pm the night before. Theres no excuse for that.
