Hey everyone so this is a reupload from last year, We pulled up to this customer's house did a quick easy decking delivery. The day was a bit cooler, mid spring if memory serves us correctly. We noticed the asphalt was still fresh but we made no sharp turns or anything to get the delivery to the end of the driveway. we took pictures of it last time and you can even seen here that there was no visible damage. When we showed up to the shipper however we were notified that she wanted to file a claim for "obliterating" the customers driveway. The Store manager seen the photos and agreed the customer was over dramatic and agreed on this next delivery for the customers second delivery it would be left curbside.
We try to help people as much as we can but with situations like that where the Manager at the shipper and our company agreed to leave it curbside..... The rest the customer can figure out. Also the customer stated we weren't supposed to be there until tomorrow: We the delivery company have no control over the scheduling of the product and that is to be delivered, That is setup with the shipper.
Thanks for watching!

Start being reasonable and stop being a Karen or an infantile or an abnormal, always blaming others for your negative outcome. This behavior is common in immature people whether adults or adolescents, in infantile, in abnormal people, if we are speaking with a normal person, then behave as such, if we are not, continue to make the best efforts to behave as normal, as mature, as reasonable, as most adults that work in every field. If you think she’s a bad customer then you’ve never worked as a contractor and had a difficult customer or dealt with a difficult person. More likely than not her contractor is overcharging her for as little work as possible. It’s the contractor’s job to manage drop off of materials and coordinate with delivery drivers/companies when there’s a new driveway or any other obstacles. Too many people in this thread have no clue how unprepared the average homeowner is to deal with situations like this. However due to a national shortage of skilled labor, you’ve got a lot of contractors barely showing up…not properly managing their projects, not considering the homeowner or their property or that things might go wing… then things like this happen. Meanwhile those contractors still end up getting paid and some charge whatever they want because they know people in their communities have no other options.

She still doesn't understand that she's the reason why she's now having this issue. My dad had an issue with an old woman years ago. He went to pick up her car that wouldn't start from her driveway. The driveway slopes down towards the house and my dad had to park the truck across the road blocking it. As my dad started winching the car up the woman comes over to her car and opens the door. It was parked with the rear facing out so the slightly open door damaged her fence and she ended up putting a claim in for the fence and some damage to the car door. I really hate people like this who go out of their way to cause problems. I think they're bored with their life and have nothing better to do which is why they are like this. It may sound wrong but if possible I would avoid dealing with older woman. They are never wrong in their opinion, it's always going to be someone else's fault.

@@banshee8989 yeah it seems like her issue is more about the truck, and therefor the delivery being brought all the way up to the house. People like you, who excessively critique and hone in on insignificant meaningless discrepancies like personality conflicts, are the reason I always encouraged everyone in any line of business who has to deal with the public, to record everything. Not just for insurance. But to prove that what was asked of them was done because at the end of the day, as well as in court, no one cares about your smile and bubbly personality. Did you fulfill what was contractually obligated of you? Yes? Case closed. Simple as that. Like it or not Pamela, the world doesn't revolve around you. Nor are we obligated to care if you don't like our personality. Be thankful we consider you a customer at all, as we aren't obligated to do so. Also, let it not be lost upon you that those, like yourself, whose only skill set in life is complaining incessantly about everything, always have to pay to have anything done because no one wants to deal with you otherwise. Then "you can't leave that there", "I don't know about the contractor" etc etc etc. Like, you watch her, she walks like you have to stop your life because she's moving, acting, thinking, to come back and hear her saying "can you put it here?" She doesn't get them that she already received her delivery. Is done. Takes time, energy, lots of care to offload a heavy equipment, pick up, move a piece of load. She had it. Done to next job. Now was the drama part she needs to throw because she wasn't accepted at a Housewives Hollywood soap, The View or she doesn't have a man willing to put up with her. And you both think she wasn't a Karen? Many customers have problems with unprofessional services and contractors, they then think everyone is trying to screw them over. This driver should have used his discretion to not drive on what is noticeably new tar in the previous delivery. Her better attitude and demeanor could have gotten her further, but people get way in over their heads when projects start, tensions get high when customers have to be involved in things they shouldn't be involved in. This boils down to the contractor dropping the ball. A customer shouldn't have to worry about product being stolen, and project logistics. That's the contractors duty. Something she pays him to take care of.

Store paperwork is flawed. It said "outside delivery" not "curbside". Big difference. For an order that small the contractor should of picked it up the evening before he was ready for it. Just made more of a hassle and work for nothing.

@@billrogers3139 are you a Democrat? I'm just asking because it looks like you want to play the word game. Is a thong something to wear on your feet or real skimpy panties? With that amount of materials the contractor should've picked it up with their trailer or had an arranged time for the delivery when they would be there to assist unloading the forklift. The problem was the forklift turning tight corners on the driveway. The forklift would be able to bring the materials as far down the driveway, contractor takes it from there while the forklift backs down the driveway.

Sometimes customers can be the biggest POS. Never forget working at a hardware store an old lady came in and couldn’t afford a new battery for her drill. An older employee feeling sorry for her gave an older one we used around the store. Three months later she came in raising hell about how it no longer worked and bitching up a storm. The manager replaced it just to get her out of our hair. I still think we should’ve told her to leave.

Man, I used to do just this. It wasn't bad, but I would always face situations like this. This made me hate my job. I got paid we'll, but not enough to deal with this bs. Plus the company I worked for never stood up for us drivers. I had a class A and worked too hard for it just for people to treat me like I didn't know what I was doing. Good on you for sticking to your guns.

He did say the drive way as a bit of damage...what I don't understand is how it's possible for someone to claim against that with a delivery company...from my understanding any damage to your property is strictly covered by homeowners insurance in which she likely has a deductible so people will be less reluctant to make claims for minor wear and tear...not sure why anyone would pay for damages especially in relation to a delivery in which someone was given permission to come on their property
