I know this comment is like, nine months late, but I just had to point something out about the foundation. That kind of cushion foundation is really popular in Korea and Japan I believe (I live in Korea and I know it's popular here) and I'm sure you haven't and won't run out of it soon. The cushion holds a surprising amount of product, even if it doesn't seem so. Once you run out of the product, which you actually haven't, you can pull out some tweezers and flip the cushion over. The back bit will probably have more product for you to use! P.S. I know only a few people will see this since I am like, months and months late, but still, I had to point those things out. Edit: jeez i came back after 8 months and i just realized i got like 2.9k likes and a ton of comments! (well it might not be a lot for other people but this is the most amount of likes and comments i’ve ever gotten!) thx so much guys!!!

I am American and often when I see American KZbinrs try out products or trends from other cultures, there's a feeling that they're making fun of what they're trying. !!IMPORTANT!! !PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU USE THE EAR TOOL! The ear cleaner is pretty common in asian culture, my mom use to do it very often to my siblings and I. I will say if you use it on Tyler put a pillow on your lap and place Tyler’s head on your lap. Use a light so you can see the ear wax, and have him pull on the bottom of his ear while you pull the top. Also he needs to keep still or it will hurt. And don’t put the tool too deep or pick to hard because the his ear will bleed. If you want to find one for yourself, most local asian markets have them.
@vixxcelacea27785 ай бұрын
I would say in general, don't clean your ears. Earwax is there to help trap dirt and bugs and keep them away from your eardrum and protect your ears. If you have and overproduction or it gets clogged, see a ear nose and throat doctor about what to do. Don't use q-tips either or if you do, very gently used it in the shallowest portion of the ear and swab. Do not jam it in or push it in as you can compact the wax into the ear and cause problems. It's a weird thing many cultures did to think earwax is bad, but it's produced on purpose to protect literal holes in the head that have quite sensitive and easily damaged parts.

I love how respectful of Japanese culture Saf is… she researched and found a person in the know to walk her through everything instead of just showing up at Coachella with droopy eyeliner and pink blush saying “this is how they do it in Japan.” She learned how to apply things, the theory behind them, and gave credit to the person who taught it to her. +Leanne Flaherty Where do you live? Sephora ships to lots of places, but I feel like while they might offer different stuff in different countries they could ship if you could access an American site and see what you wanted. Personally, I've banned myself from Sephora unless it's an emergency because there's a medium-sized one on the first floor of my apartment building and if i start visiting this leads to shopping, and I prefer to have money left to spend on other things (like trips to Japan, where among other things I visited the same theme spa as Safiya on my most recent stay there).
@allieschwarz80236 жыл бұрын
+Leanne Flaherty Oooh, I love Superdrug! I lived (and studied) in the UK for a year when I was 19, and there was a Superdrug and a Boots on my commute to Uni, each of which had a bunch of perfumes on the counter for customers to sample. Most mornings, I'd "sample" a perfume from one or the other (I bought makeup, but never actually bought scent... this is before I knew about rollerballs like they have at Sephora). That spa in Japan is awesome, btw. My visit was in July and I was expecting heat but instead it rained every single day. When we got to Yunessen - which is mostly indoors - and got into the Greek God-themed pool, to our surprise we heard thunder, quickly followed by lightening, immediately followed by rain (we got soaked). I started laughing and couldn't stop because in Japan, it even rained on us when we tried to spend the day inside! Maybe if I spoke Japanese I would have been prepared for that.

Dear kids watching this video and going 'wow i need those colored contacts' cool! Colored contacts are great! But for the love of god please put them in before you put on ANY makeup (trust me, getting bits of eyeshadow, foundation or mascara between ur eye and the lense HURTS) and soak those bad boys for at least a few hours in your regular lense solution before getting them anywhere near you eye. The solution used in the packaging isn't exactly safe for your eyes. Be careful with your eyes y'all! Edit: Ofcourse this is not hate towards Saf, I loved the video and the makeup looks rlly cute! Just a headsup for anyone interested in color contacts because of this video. My two favorite websites to buy them are honeycolor.com and ttd-eye.com btw :)

One of the problems with the translations was that you were just translating everything at once, so the translator translated a few separate sentences as if they were one single sentence (I know Japanese). I definitely want that maybelline foundation. I like how dewy it looks. I also like the cream blush and the lipstick. I don't think non asian people should buy eyelash curlers from asian stores because the shape is wrong for your eyes. I can't use a western eyelash curler because the curve is too pronounced for my eyes so it pinches my eyelids.

...I would never even have considered the difference of Asian eye shape in terms of eyelash curlers. Same goes for mascaras and those 'print on' liners too I guess. This is exactly why representation matters. All the white people running the beauty industry deciding dark skinned undertones are ash, soot or RED AF and assuming everyone has a western facial shape.

I use L’Oreal cushion foundation and it’s just like this! If you look around any makeup stores (target even sells a lot for a good price), you can find multiple brands that use the “cushion technique”. This type of foundation is super popular in Asia, and I can see why aha. It’s really easy to use and applies so smoothly. You might wanna try some brands of it and see which one you like best, but I personally recommend L’Oreal. I’m in the US btw, so if you’re in another country then I’m not sure if they sell cushion foundations, but they should sell some brand of it if you look around
@kuraila6 жыл бұрын
the "cushion" type of foundations actually come from korea, they have many of them but just lacking of colours choice. Maybelline and loreal joins the trend, so you get a series of those in asia. i think you can get laneige bb cushion in the US sephora. laneige have more selections of skin colours iirc.

The makeup is so beautiful and cute and I much prefer these Japanese makeup trends to American/Western ones because they look so sweet! I enjoyed this Japan series so much Safiya, it was really wonderful and fascinating to watch - it made me want to visit Japan so much! The culture and amazing places are so fascinating and magnificent. I hope you enjoyed your trip there a lot and that you’ll be able to travel to other places in the future. You deserve it. Your videos are genuinely the most interesting and well made videos of any popular KZbinr and are so enjoyable to watch. I think you’re probably one of the only you tubers I watch every single video from because your videos are fun and unique. I can really tell how much time, effort and research you put into your content and the results that you produce in your videos are amazing. Not to mention your fun and bubbly personality! You seem like such a caring person in your videos and you are honestly so completely gorgeous. Keep making incredible content Safiya. 💖 I hope your tattoo will turn out great, you are so brave for leaving it partly up to your subscribers but I’m sure there are some very talented illustrators among us who will do a wonderful drawing for you. 💗💕

I go with the Asian makeup trend because it’s more natural looking and the American trend I feel looks way too bold on me. It’s easier for me cause it doesn’t involve too many products so it’s a super fast process. I do some cushion foundation, do my brows, put on some blush and a lippie. It’s the 10 step skincare routine that takes up most of my time.

Wow.. I only use three things for my skin. Aloe Vera leaves, (It's very good for acne, acne scars ect) a moisturizer and a soap made out of peaches. Maybe it's because my skin already looks good but I wish I had time and money to spend on my face! As for the makeup I don't wear foundation I only use primer, a pink eyeshadow, a cream blush, mascara and a lip tint or a lip powder. (There's still a lot of products but compared to western makeup it's not that much ahah)

우주소녀 My skin before I started doing the routine was already clear and acne free (thankful for my genes) and I didn’t have many issues with it but I was curious on what the hype was about and honestly it helped soften up my skin a lot, plump it up, kept it hydrated and just made it a lot more glowy. My skin is a lot happier

Fun fact: the reason lipsticks aren't necessarily matte is because Chinese/Korean/Japanese makeup trends tend to create a "bitten" lip look. It's basically when it's darker inside and starts to fade out lighter so that it gives off a more natural look. Its usually done with red, pink, or an orange almost coral tint or whatever matches your lips the best :3
