SAFTU rejects two-pot retirement system

SAFTU has expressed strong opposition to the new two-pot retirement system recently signed by President Cyril Ramaphosa. It allows workers to access a third of their pension contribution before retirement. The federation says these rules undermine the potential benefits of the reform by limiting workers' access to their funds. SAFTU’s Zwelinzima Vavi says one of the main issues is the withdrawal being capped at R30 000.
