Years ago Shirley MacLaine was on Broadway and being interviewed on a morning show. When asked if there was something she’d never done but would like to, she said “ride an elephant.” I was PR coordinator for Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey at that time and the circus was in town. We quickly arranged for an elephant to be outside the theatre that evening. Not sure if she truly wanted to but she gamely got on the elephant in front of the press and some lucky adoring fans. Huge pic in The NY Times the next day! That was fun. Hope that she thought so too.

I absolutely love Shirley MacLaine and her work. I've always wanted to meet her but life happens and I didn't have the opportunity. She's brilliant, charming, funny, and one hell of an actress1

Although she doesn't remember doing it, Shirley MacLaine did a Dick Cavett Show with John Lennon & Yoko Ono. It aired May 11, 1972.

Contrary to what Pete Hammond says in this interview, Paul Newman has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I've walked on it daily for years. Corner of 7060 Hollywood Blvd. at Sycamore. Next to the stars of Sophia Loren & The Supremes.

She has quite the imagination with her past lives beliefs, but was really good in Terms of Endearment.

Hitchcock being a cockney would have been brought up speaking Cockney & rhyme . This was used by poor Londoners to communicate without the well off realising what they were saying. ie John on the Dog & Bone for you (phone) There are variations on this through the UK ie I don't have a Scooby Doo (clue)
