Sagat is someone modern MMA fighters should really study. His style is so applicable to an MMA context. To my mind he's the best example of Muay Thai with a punching focus

When I started training, I went for the head. I went to the body but it was more like of a distraction for the head shot. It wasn't until my teacher and friend taught me of body shots with bad intention. I still doubted this, a kick to the liver changed my mind forever. I was awake, but couldn't move, and I swear I felt like I shit my shorts. June of 1996, I remember the date. Once people feel a real body shot they will not know it's power and effectiveness. Great video as always.

Im an amateur in mt, but most time, i only train alone with no partner, only do shadow and heavy bag in my house, and i felt so unsatisfied, the only time i ve a partner in when i train with my pad holder, a few months ago. But now that ive further my study, i cant find sparring partner here...but watching channel like this, i can learn some useful tips, its only matter of time till i found someone to practice with...

Leonid Danilovich Arkadin How can you be an amateur if you don’t even spar lol
@jamends1220
@jamends1220 5 жыл бұрын
Sparring is extremely important for progressing and it is such an amazing workout as well as being really fun to do since its essentially 'play fighting'. You should look at joining a MMA gym or some where that teaches Muay Thai or kick boxing. Even if its once a week and you train the rest of the week by yourself at least you will get that sparring experience. Even if they don't do sparring all the time at least you will meet people who you can then ask to spar with. Such an important activity for getting your body used to taking a hit and keeping your cool when you're having the pressure put on you.

Don't you mean Thais train with more playfulness?
@patrickvernon5368
@patrickvernon5368 5 жыл бұрын
@@Cambodia69 yes. However I think Americans specifically have a culture that takes itself too seriously when it comes to work and goals that in the end is less effective, and loses the personal, and playful aspect that is needed for development. Any thoughts on this?
@Cambodia69

@@patrickvernon5368 I think that's one of the main reasons why (most) non-Thai fighters look so stiff and lack the beautiful aesthetic of Thai nak muay.

I’ve trained with a former boxer too. I agree with old fashioned techniques really helpful. I’ve leaned new styles from people and adjusted to my master. Amd twisting body, power from shoulder are main idea. 5 months boxing, my shoulders are sore but firmed without lifting

The technique at the end where he jams the right hand before it really gets going, that is a technique mentioned in jack dempsey's "championship fighting and aggressive defense." It's interesting to see it instructed in live action. Very cool.

Robert Liberty Her and her husband will play it safe because, you never know if someone has a gun on them. Also fighting in the ring doesn't always translate to good on the street. When I fight on the street it's rarely ever time to use good muay thai. Usually you just wanna get it over with fast, and leave the area/situation. Best thing to do is avoid it anyway. I think she's Canadian.
