Inspections only catch the people who don’t know how to hide their crap, unfortunately. I worked in a place where the owner said to not use dish soap on cups and they always came out smelly and disgusting, but the owner would lose his crap on anybody trying to save leftovers because “I can get in trouble for food health”. This place has been here for 10+ years. (banquet hall/restaurant, i worked banquet hall) Legally you can’t go to a banquet hall and start shoving food into bags bc health)

I worked as the assistant manager for a closing shift at a Little Caesar’s and I’d let my co-workers take anything we wanted (the owner wanted us to always be stocked on bread sticks and the Hot-n-Readies so there was always plenty left over.), but after everyone else left and I had finished the paperwork I’d go all out on the pizzas, I’d make cheesy pepperoni bread sticks, anything I could think of. Also the last hour we’d get people that would trade weed with us for anything “timed out” lol. It was great! We technically weren’t supposed to but the owner was basically a little Caesar’s slumlord so anything flew.

My first job was at Papa John's. All the managers were super chill, even the district manager and we were the top performing store in the state so corporate didn't send inspectors too often. The managers policy was that you could do basically whatever the fuck you wanted to(within reason) when there wasn't any orders to be made as long as you busted your ass when they did come. We did all kinds of culinary shit like this. Often times we would run out of large dough balls and would have to cut down extra large dough balls to size, and whenever that happened, after the rush the cut off bits were always braided and covered in garlic sauce for all the people on shift. One time I even brought in a potato and turned it into fries after my shift with the help of one of the managers and the sonic next door and they weren't half bad

The reason why fast food companies don’t allow employees to take home food is because if they did, the employees could just intentionally cook a lot of excess food so that they have something to take home, which means less profits.
@TheDawnofVanlife2 жыл бұрын
You know who did that at my (old) job and ruined it for everyone. The stupid manager. Managers got to comp any meals they took during the day (meant for them to be able to eat lunch) and we had a manager comping meals for his whole family! I had a suspicion he wasn’t the only one, but employees grumbled about it all the time. Us hourly workers just wanted our one free meal during our shift. Because of managers misusing the power to comp, Cooperate took away the free employee meal and gave hourly employees a 50% discount and the salary managers one free meal instead of unlimited. Couldn’t they have just reduced the managers to a free meal? The managers, who got paid MORE then the employees still got at least one free meal. But me, the hourly worker who gets cut early when the store is slow can’t eat unless I have money on me. Luckily, we had a few kind managers who worked it in as ‘waste’ to save people they knew were just getting buy on their meager paychecks. While the excuse for the change worked in paper, the person who took the most advantage and ruined it for everyone wasn’t even the hourly workers at my store. It was the manager.
@imnotblindbutiloveblindfol84492 жыл бұрын

When I worked a Taco Bell years ago, I had a coworker named Sunny. She was not the sharpest tool in the shed. Like just barely smart enough to live on her own. She also had a kid and lived with her mom. If you’ve ever seen a food making line at Taco Bell, it’s like a little assembly line. With a rack for all the lettuce bits and stuff to fall through as you move down the line making your burritos and stuff. Below that rack under a cabinet is a big plastic tub that catches all the stuff that falls through. At the end of a shift, you weight it and log it as waste in the books the toss it out. Sunny had talked the managers into giving her those bags for her kids pet rabbit. She would even come on on days off to “pick up her bag”. She got in a bind for babysitting one day and one of my coworkers offered to watch the kid for a couple of hours. Found out they had been living on “taco salad”. Room temperature, 8 hour shift, bits of whatever fell through the rack. Including anything that may have hit the floor or been handed back through the drive through by a customer. Damn..
