I've been a manager at a fast food place and that is a level of stress I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.
@lapislazarus88992 жыл бұрын
It's not worth it. But never understood why everyone would stress so hard, like when I worked at the café in Barnes & Noble (that's the closest I've come to fast food) Geez, I'd be in back prepping bake items on sheets to go in the oven cuz we're down to one of everything, and my coworker would come back in a panic all, "I need help with customers! There's a line!" There'd be three people 🙄 Everyone hates register. I didn't particularly like it, because I could multi-task away from it. But if I got stuck on register, my coworker would just stand at the espresso machine; meanwhile I'm noticing every plate in the display cases are empty. I CAN ring up customers AND make drinks; the machine is fully automated, you can walk away from it.

@@PacificPounding Yeah i had two managers at papa johns, one of which was a massive weeb, but he was also very stressed. The other was probably smoking enough weed to make any situation seem chill.

I worked in a Korean fried chicken fastfood joint last year (I lasted 1 month before I started hating work and my manager told me to go), worst job I've ever had but best pay I ever got. Whenever we would get that dinner rush , my manager would go ape shit and start cooking food even though it was a waste and it got to the point where he would defrost chicken in the sink with hot water (would not be surprised if someone died or got a disease from eating the food ) (literally a food safety hazard) I don't understand how hard it is to tell the customers to wait or order something else instead of serving food like that.

One time I was working at mcdcks with my friend Shaun and he did something even I wouldn't do which says a lot. He and I were completing the burgers, I would put the buns in the toaster and see what needed to be started, get the box and sauce while he would finish them by putting the meat and other stuff on them. The order came through as a grilled chicken sandwich, not sure if they still serve them but it was literally the only thing that is real chicken and it takes like 10 minutes to cook it on the grill properly. We only had one left that was cooked and didn't have anymore started as we were behind. I pass the unfinished sandwich to him and he takes the chicken out of the warming drawer and accidentally dropped it on the disgusting greasy floor. Knowing that it would take another 10 minutes to complete the order he decided to pick it up and try to dust the hairs and gross specs off of it and then does the shush motion with his finger to his lips and puts it on the bun and sends it out. Always remember that your fast food is likely being cooked by teenagers who get paid minimum wage and don't give two fawks about the quality.

@@nebulouscat2210 I'm not sure if you were ever a teenager but as a teenager there is usually a desire to be around your friends, even if that means you don't love your minimum wage job. Also raw is completely different, I would never allow someone to be harmed. This was a cooked chicken with some extra dirt and hair on it, gross, but not harmful. We washed those greasy floors regularly, it's not like we cut the chicken on the floor or anything.

Like-Jim is probably so miserable because he had to practically live there day in and day out as a manager, and he seemed like a ticking time bomb, ya know? Bro, if only everyone was as chill as you when they worked. Like, the largest problem with working my job is trying to make sure people aren't at each other's throats. Jobs aren't hard, people make them hard because of their insecurities. When I worked my first job I will admit I was kinda like Jim. However, when that happened I had an extreme case of sleep deprivation. Working 60+ hours on top of maintaining a whole house by myself so I was generally getting less than 3 hours of sleep a night and would regularly skip 3 days of sleep. Causing hallucinations, occasional blacking out for a second while doing something and such. With literally no time to talk to friends to tell me I'm being dumb and need to relax, and never having any time to do any hobbies, I just kept forcing my body until it became more inefficient at everything, taking even more time. So doing all of this caused massive stress, so many things that wouldn't make me angry, now made me angry, and it was harder to do the proper decision. Jim seemed to be 2/3 of the way there, basically the point where you start to struggle with controlling your emotions especially when stressed in a fast paced environment. However, since you're not so exhausted, you'll have the energy to start going after other people, especially in a management position. I did my job well with my first job, but I knew that school ain't going to properly teach you how to deal with emotions, and my family wasn't really around to help either, so I knew if I tried to be a manager on my first job, I would've done the exact same thing as Jim and let my emotions do stupid things. So glad I didn't be a manager right away. I've now learned mental techniques to deal with such things and I am now a manager myself, and help people stay in a good mood so they have an easy time with jobs. All I gotta say is make sure you get plenty of sleep, exercise, good diet, and have a scheduled time to relax. Do those things regularly everyday and everything in life is stupidly easy, and you can then prevent other people from strangling each other so everyone has a good time no matter what job you work = ) Also poor Miguel. The story doesn't make it sound like he was stressed, so I'm going to assume he just didn't get enough sleep that night. Honestly, half the people I worked with at fast food act like they are zombies, and it's usually lack of sleep.

Our manager came out mad at us and sent me to go do a bathroom check while he cleaned it up. I come back around the corner after checking the bathroom and I see the exact same thing happen again. Our manager sent us both home.

If I was Jim, yes I would get very annoyed by the horn and I understand why he was upset. But to confront the people in that car is a big risk bc almost anyone with a basic background check can own a gun. They could've pulled a gun on him if they had/if they wanted to. Just glad that situation didn't turn up like that
@brittanys5052 жыл бұрын
yeah I kinda felt bad for Jim by the end of the video, feel like he had a lot too much responsibilities that he wasn't ready to deal with. A good leader needs to keep things cool between everyone in the workplace and fighting with customers is not a good look and he got very panicky with the chicken fingers lol.

I worked briefly at Burger King and I had a coworker who was very proud of his concealed weapon permit…. The kicker was the dude was cross eyed and had intellectual disabilities. I know this because we went to hs together and he had special classes. He could only work the fryer too. Dunno how he got that permit, I thought they were tough to get. I’m all for gun rights and rights of people with disabilities but something about that kid sauntering around with a pistol rubs me the wrong way.

Selling guns is more important than owning guns. - politicians
@yolobathsalts Жыл бұрын
@@Bob-kk2vg he has the God given right to own a firearm just as much as you do. You're discriminating based on mental health. If he isn't a threat to himself or others he should be allowed to own any gun he wants. Just because he's slow and has a physical disability means nothing. If anything he needs a gun more than you do so he can properly defend himself. I have multiple learning disabilities & physical ailments & own over ten firearms. I've never drawn them on anything other than a paper target, trash in the woods or the Scumbag who threatened my child. Does this rub you the wrong way?

The amount of relatability in this video from also having working at Canes is insane haha!! The detail in this is so exact and similar to my experience from the kitchen, my GM being so out there in the way he ran his location, the mega-pops out of nowhere, the way sauce is pumped, & even the detail on the way they teach you to drop the bird in the damn fryer. Great video bro I was laughing the whole time xD

This is great. I love the random fries lying all over the place and the splats here and there. And yeah, my first computer was a Windows 95 machine with this new thing: It was "Multimedia" which means it came with powered speakers. Which, it turned out, would pick up the order-taker at the window of the Dairy Queen up the street (this was all done via radio) and some of the stuff I heard was hilarious.

I actually used to be the assistant manager in a fast food setting 15 years ago. Its understandable that with such a position even as a shift leader, food cost is something we would have to answer to. But on the other, even then I would say this dude really needs to lighten up. I was actually the assistant manager telling shift leaders that were beneath me to pike down but i only need one hand to count how many we had that were like that. As for him putting his hands on that kid, If I were him, we would have fought!
