Upon editing the video I am wondering a few things: Was baby #1 really both legs back? it almost appears as if he does emerge with 1 hoof forward but slightly back, maybe he was in an "elbow lock" position? I also wonder if he was tangled up a little with his sister and in pulling him out, she got her front leg caught up with him and created a tangle of a situation that way? I'm glad it worked out either way! Mama and babies are doing excellent!!

Just now had time to sit down and watch. Poor mama my heart went out to her, you did great! Lucky woman a blue eyed, moon spotted, polled baby girl very lucky indeed 😍🐐 will see if the last doe due this month has me a blue eyed baby then we'll get everything figured out

You and mama did great!!!! So awesome that both babies came out healthy and strong! I can't wait for you to share more video of the babies once they are hopping and bouncing around!! You sure hit the jackpot on the little doe!!! Might I suggest Treasure as a name? Thanks for sharing your homestead with us!!! Stay safe!!!

Thanks so much! We have kind of a dark disaster type theme going on with the goats born here or bought recently, and her name is Sage and Stone Wayward Tempest. I already registered her online 🤣😍🐐

Gorgeous babies!! Your girls are so blessed to be able to experience this!! Congratulations on 2 beautiful new kids! Love that puller; always hope to never have to use it, but certainly thankful to have it when needed!!! God bless!!

I thought I was going to have to use it but once I got her turned the right way mama pushed her very far into the canal and I knew she was good after that! 😍

Do either you or your daughter have experience that shows that mamas who have a kid with their head turned back keep doing that with each kidding? I'm giving her a 3rd chance after a full year of healing before breeding, but I feel bad breeding her more if it's going to be hard on her each time.
@merryanneadair44513 жыл бұрын
@@SageandStoneHomestead sadly yes...... We've both experienced it. The best doe I've ever had, EVERY year her first kid would come out head only. Her 4th freshening I was at work & not there to help. 😢 She seems strong & healthy, as long as you can be there to help her, I think she will be OK. And she might totally surprise you her next freshening!!

I'm hoping next time things go much smoother for her!

@@SageandStoneHomestead in the video I saw you offer her water after kidding. We ALWAYS offer warm water with a splash of apple cider vinegar in it. It helps them pass the afterbirth, helps with letting milk down & seems to just help their whole system recover easier. They always seem very thankful for it! 😉

Yes that's a great thing to give mamas after birth! I had one mama get diarrhea after birth and it was suggested maybe I put too much in her water. Oops!

When I catch my does in labor I walk them around unless their already starting to heavily contract I haven’t had a problem from my does in 5 years as in the fist 2 years I had around 4 does each year that kidded 3 in which each had problems that all resulted in death… in the kids
@SageandStoneHomestead3 жыл бұрын
Oh I'm so sorry! That's so sad. So far this has been an uncomplicated kidding season.! The walking is good advice. Humans are told to walk to get things moving too! I say uncomplicated but this particular kidding was decently complicated. But it worked out well!
