Excellent thoughts and points, Aaron. Being prepared is so much more than a permit in your wallet and weapon on your belt.....I follow the same concealed is concealed policy. Always dress and act accordingly to blend in. There are plenty of choices in ones dress that will allow you to carry a full EDC discretely and stay below the radar.

Aaron excellent video ... retired p/o from Las Vegas and it wasn’t that long for the info ... this topic could be 4-5 video’s to be honest... I have been in a few shooting during my career and it sucks to say the least but if you are in one the only option is to win that battle.... now saying that.... the slow motion aspect of the shooting itself is forever in my memory . My 1st one was in 1995 and the second was in 1999 ... I remember so much from both shootings that both of them could have happened yesterday.... I was responding to the Mandalay Bay on October 1st during the active shooter where he killed so many .... for my own reasons i retired exactly 2 months after that.... I do carry an EDC everyday because of the Movie theater scenario you gave .... I can’t dis-agree with anything in the video .... thanks Aaron

I'll just add that I don't think any cop would want me reaching into my waistband while he's giving me commands. I'd rather just abide by the commands than put my hands somewhere that looks like I could be drawing a gun. I get that you meant before the 1st responders show up. Just adding that though for people who may not realize if you're reaching in your pockets or belt while a cop has you at gun point you may have a higher chance of getting shot.

I feel like contacting 911 as soon as the situation permits - even before you've engaged a subject - and putting yourself into communication with them will be a high priority advantage so that they know who you are, they know there's an armed citizen on the scene providing important information, and there's a recording of the situation around you which can be a layer of protection legally. They need that information to help mitigate the confusion and chaos that can happen. You can even consider using your phone as a body cam. Bluetooth earbuds can act as at least some hearing protection as well as help with 911 calls; all provided the situation permits for any of this of course, but that piece of technology in our pockets can go a long way to assist in that situation. Just my thoughts on the matter. Great video.

Another excellent video Aaron. As an armed citizen, I have a question that you may have good advise on (hopefully for the benefit of all). What about the temporary hearing loss resulting from indoor fire (assuming indoors)? Doesn't that make it hard to respond to verbal commands when the LEO's arrive? I realize they are generally going to be loud and clear as to the commands they give, but they may also be at a distance. Any physical type signs to the officers that arrive to let them know you are not the bad guy?

I remember vividly the day Collinbine happened and I just secured for the day and going in to impound some evidence .... it was all over the news and my Sgt was watching and asked me what I would do.... I told him I would go in and take my chances....
@troy66365 жыл бұрын
Continuing .... I said I have more chances then those kids and if I direct there attention to me then it would give the kids more time to escape either by hitting the suspects with gunfire or forcing them to find cover which will hopefully save some of those kids ..... my Sgt agreed with my philosophy and so did my squad when we tape topped the scenario....so in closing your right on point in my opinion.... thank you

Some good points but also need to consider some things like opening doors all the way. Yes doors make concealment but not cover. When a gunman knows there’s a person behind the door who is a threat to him, it’s no longer useful as cover and should never be used for entry to begin with.

Thank You SO much for all of the fantastic info! I am trying to watch All of your videos. Keep them coming! Have you done any videos specifically addressing businesses about their lunacy and negligence who choose to employ Zero armed security and then on top of that make it a "weapon free zone" therefore making it impossible for employees who are ccw permit holders to be both adequately equipped/prepared to defend themselves and remain in compliance with their employer's policies? Of course I would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6, but unfortunately I do work for such a business in a "weapon free" facility...

Great video as always. I will say to your point on suspicion after the fact. I watch a lot of 1st/2nd Amendment Audits and the main theme they attempt to push is 'suspicion is not a crime'. I totally agree with removing Gun Free Zones (and states, damn you CA). I can only hope the reciprocity act of 2017 makes some strong headway. Keep up the good vids. I cannot wait to see more.

I have a question? I to am of the mindset that conceded means concealed however I was thinking if I was in a situation where I need to defend myself and I'm in a gun free zone and they question me about my firearm could I potentially risk a misdemeanor or even worse? Once I stop the treat I would think they would look past the fact that I was carrying in a gun free zone.
@stotzmitchell9 жыл бұрын
yes definitely there's a difference between being not allowed and being able to. plus I would take that misdemeanor all day every day if it meant me saving my family's life or somebody else's life in the process

+Zachary Schinbeckler Depends on local laws. I would think you wouldn't be convicted if you were proven to be justified in your actions. The same as killing an active shooter; if the shooting is justified you're unlikely to be convicted.
@jdglock91149 жыл бұрын
+Zachary Schinbeckler Check your state laws. It will be in your state's criminal code which can be found on line. What state are you in? Good luck - stay safe!
@ambismagee32077 жыл бұрын
My problem with carrying in gunfree zones is that your risk of being busted while not in an active shooter situation is more likely and you won't have just saved anybody's life to leverage against prosecutorial asswipes. Gun free zones are retarded.

As a person in a "duty to retreat" state, I would have to leave with the other people that were running out in that one scenario. On the Yeager channel my situation has not been well received with being told to "GET TRAINING" although I fall to see where that would change Ohio Revised Code and lessen post shooting legal prediation. I like your thinking approach to things. I would appreciate you thoughts on this.
@SageDynamics9 жыл бұрын
You find yourself needing to follow a nonsensical law, but a law nonetheless. What does your state say about defending the lives of others? If there's no legal "loophole" then by law you really can't get evolved unless your ability to retreat has been removed. Depending on the situation I would think the presence of a shooter in a chaotic environment would leave you with a real question of if escape was possible.
@jbkerns9 жыл бұрын
+SageDynamics Thank you. In response. As to your question: "If a person believes that a family member or other person, even a stranger, is in imminent danger of bodily harm, then that person may use reasonably necessary force to defend that other person, to the same extent that the other person would be entitled to act in self-defense. See State v. Williford, 49 Ohio St. 3d 247 (1990). " www.columbuscriminaldefenseattorney.com/2011/11/27/the-right-to-self-defense-in-ohio-part-iv-the-defense-of-others/. I hope this helps you as an instructor if you have students from states like mine.

Obviously I am not an Officer but have a cwp and am not trying to impersonate an officer but thats what these things say on them.

When you were with DOD. You were not a city police officer nor a county officer. They ride 2 in on a call. That's most calls for officer reasons. So the likelyhood of 2 officers showining up together on the scene together is a high probability. Also, one man entry is not the best practice. As it takes 2 people at a minimum to enter and clear a building.Or in this case direct to threat. The other reasons are rear security, who has your rear if a second shooter pops up and you only know about one. One from the front and one from the rear. The tactics don't change. Yes, time on target is very important, but also is eliminating the threat. That should be done with superior firepower. I want to know what your background is,

I can answer that question for you, regarding who the cops are there to protect at sporting event use. They're there to protect the citizens. Not quite what you were implying. We are there to protect the citizens because we understand just like everyone else what a target-rich environment it represents. So that's that, we are there to protect the citizens as best we can, that's why some of us go undercover and mingle amongst the crowd,

Nowhere in the country is violating a firearm prohibited mandate punishable by only a slap-on-the-wrist
@CitizenCarrierАй бұрын
I didn’t hear him say the word “mandate”. There is a huge difference between a government mandate and/or regulation and a business or any other place putting up a sign they probably bought on Amazon saying they don’t want you to carry a gun. Those signs are suggestions. If someone sucks at concealing and gets noticed, as long as it’s not a prohibited place to carry by government regulations (local, state or federal) all they can do legally is ask you to leave. So, just leave. If they call the cops, they will just trespass you from the business if the business wants that. I think you are confusing government mandates to a business owners personal preference.
