For anyone interested the newer versions of this bag have a compartment in the bottom that unzips and extends the length of rifle it can hold: I got a suppressed 10.5” and an unsuppressed 16” into it

*****Correction to the bag***** you can actually fit up to 34” overall length rifles. I just got the bag and I have 11.5” pistol with an extended A5 pistol buffer, and a dead air 3 prong hider. My pistol is 31” overall. I thought at first I was screwed because it was like an inch too long. Aaron didn’t show, I just discovered it this morning after getting the bag last night, there is a zipper behind the rainfly zipper. It will extend a reinforced pocket out about 3-4” the barrel can stick through! Good enough to fit my 11.5” with coupled 30 round magpuls and two spare mags. So even an 12.5” or 13.7” I imagine would still fit without needing a folder. Only problem is the extender seems to only fit a barrel or hand guard. My streamlight protac makes it super tight but still doable. Cheers boys.

I think the point of that bottom pouch is to give you an extra 6-7" of length in the bag by turning it inside out.

I just got the Blackhawk racquet bag the other day. It's been great. I carried my rifle and 6 mags out of my apartment and past quite a few families barbecuing and they had no idea. It's wonderful for just transporting a long gun when you live in an apartment.

Nice bag and review, sir. I travel to Atlanta frequently for business (always well armed) and do the grey man routine in and out of hotels in Perimeter and Buckhead. This is a bag I will definitely be adding to my collection of discreet carry gear. Even though i always try to look and act discreet, I sometimes wonder if I am wasting my time, money, and effort with the overall tuned out nature of most people these days. The stuff I see makes me shake my head in disbelief. Loved the CNN recon mission!!!!! Into the liberal's den and the fools had no clue. You should have taken the tour and snapped a selfie in Piers Morgan's former office.

I like the concept, and their execution seems to be spot on. I think a compartment for hydration would add an extra level of win (unless I missed mention of the hydration compartment). And thanks for the bit at the end, I swear I forget more shit than I remember from classes and reading. Keep up the great work and continue to grow.. Hope to see you in April (NRAAM).

A good old hiking backpack is all you need. I have never seen the point in getting these discrete tactical bags. I have a Patagonia 40l pack I have used for years to carry my PDW, purifiers, first aid, fire making and bushcrafting gear. There are tons at backpacking shops or online outdoor retail stores you can find a great pack that will blend in a look way more natural. To me all these gray man packs are an odd shape and look like gun bags. I think the pack should be set up for the everyday essentials but have the capability to store a AR pistol or breakdown, not the other way around.
@robertalonzo57256 жыл бұрын
The bag has the extra height. The admin pocket on the bottom by the rain fly is actually a 3in extension that pops out. Liked the review otherwise. ESP the hiking comfort eval.

+SageDynamics, concur with your review 100%. Picked up the GGG Apparition bag during their huge sale in October. Couldn't pass it up for 50% off. My 12.5" SBR, with Law Tactical Gen 3 folded and the AAC Blackout is 22" long. It still has over 3 inches to spare when carried barrel up without the bottom expansion being used. If I use the expansion pouch, it looks like I might be able to carry it barrel down with the M4-2000 installed. I just need to devise some way to protect the endcap from being damaged. I have also used it to carry a broke-down Daniel Defense DDM4 w/ 16" barrel when I had to travel across state lines. I do have a few improvements I would prefer, however they are not deal breakers: - I use a Kelty Redwing 50 for a "grayman" travel pack and I love the loops and grab handle down the back. The loops serve a similar function as molle but are on a bunch of civilian packs, and the handle is very nice for picking up the bag if it's laying straps down on the floor or bed, or for loading / unloading from the back of a vehicle. I also love the top "brain pouch" (used on a lot of civilian packs). It makes a good place to store cell phone, wallet, keys, etc. versus the back slit pouch, which I think is better for soft, pliable items like gloves, watch cap, scarf, etc. - The water pouches are totally unusable for any bottles that stick out more than an inch (they tend to slide out if the bag is laid down). I prefer the 32 oz Nalgene bottles, but not with this pack. There should be some kind of retention strap / bungee to hold the bottles in. This is something I will have to resolve myself so I don't lose a water bottle... - The pack could be a bit wider as it still looks a little unusual when compared to other overnight-styled packs. The tall and thin profile does stand out a bit, especially with how stiff it rides when a rifle is carried. - There are two slit zipper pouches on the bottom of the pack, one on each side, just aft of the waist belt (when worn). I wish these were either deeper, or connected, to create a good space for storing a handgun with spare mags, similar to the GGG Griff Pack. As they are, they are pretty small. You could probably put a snubby revolver in there, maybe even a G26/27, though. There are always little things that could be changed / improved, but like most things, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Still a great design and solid pack. I'm really glad there are no company logos or trademark items on the bag. Thanks! Again, great review!

Why did you leave out the feature at the bottom of the bag that allows you to carry a longer rifle with the bottom zipper? It gives more than the 1" you were wishing it had.
@tylerfrizzell46433 жыл бұрын
I sometimes use the little flap on the bottom of the bag when I want to carry my rifle with my sandman k attached. Typically though, I keep the can detached, with a 20 round mag inserted and 30s in the pockets.

Excellent review on the pack's versatility. However, along with being taller, I'd expect more than 20L of capacity for $250.

This is almost if not exactly a replica of the Cherry Bomb pack by Eberlestock. These are made in China. Get the real pack and do not support copies of American products made overseas. Also the admin pocket on the bottom is not a admin pocket, it is an extension to allow carrying of longer rifles. That is why it has a triangle shape and it is located where the barrel normally rests.

Sooo basically you’re a walking armory for someone to come take from you if the grey man concept was ever actually needed. You’re basically unarmed. The entire point of grey man is under no rule of law to look harmless but be weaponized or armed if need be. Taking a gun hiking or to the car on a normal day isn’t what a grey man concept is even about.
